Well, it depends on the age group they think most female gamers are in. If they think we're all little girls still playing with dolls, then you know what to expect.
But if games are made for older female gamers, then they shouldn't be crappy. Hopefully....
But then again it would be best just to make games that aren't directed at any gentder in particular.

Marketing is an interesting area. I'd like to see bolder colours on DS's for instance. Hot pink, electric blue, emerald green etc. I'd probably buy one like that. Although don't they have shells you can buy for DS?

I'd like to see customisable face plates for GH3, although if I took some time I could probably make one myself.

I'd love to see/hear what focus groups feedback is in marketing drives.

I think those 'girly' type games are aimed more at getting girls to want to play games in the first place, not necessarliy at girls that are already gaming. I just can't believe that any human can be that stupid, and believe they're the type of game that all girls want to play. But then again, I am constantly surprised by human stupidity, maybe I should learn to stop being so surprised

Stormstruk, I think there are already faceplates for GH3. I remember reading that somewhere...

Omi yes, I know about the other faceplates, but I mean faceplates that are blank like the ones you get with the guitar and then you can decorate them yourself.

I'd like to think that producing games like Bratz, Barbie etc gets little girls interested in gaming, and then they can branch out from there. Existing girl gamers are not bimbos and can get into games with universal appeal not games "aimed" at female gamers.

I wonder what the demographic is who are purchasing the WiiFit and WiiBoard in Japan.....

lol You never know what game will get someone into gaming, Stormstruk.
Sure I was playing the Sega and Nintendo something-or-other since I can remember, but those were for my brother and I to share.
I only became more serious about it when I played Resident Evil 2 on the PSX.
In fact if it hadn't been for that one game I probably would've grown out of video games.
But then again that got me hooked because I'm a blood thirsty kind of person... lol
Bratz or Barbie could be right for someone else though.

yeah but

Omi said: It’s great to see more girls signing up to this site lately, and I thought maybe you could all gather in a girly huddle and I could pick your brains!

Why do you think there are so few girls out there that enjoy games as we do? Why are we so different?

And hey, if the Wii is your first console, what made you want to buy one? What was turning you off games before?

Me? I started when my Dad brought home an Atari 2600

I'm not sure whether I started playing it because I looked up to my dad, or because it looked like so much fun! Both probably. I always liked puzzles as a kid, and trying to figure things out, I think that’s how I look at games. They’re simply a puzzle or riddle that needs to be solved.

its funny how
girls are the most unlikely kind of people to play computer games and that kind of stuff they find it inpractical they like to chat more
my girlfriend on the other hand enjoys playing games well she hates annoying games like sudoku and that shes more of a killing person but in real life she has a really good life shes smart and interesting.

Maybe theres a point in that. Do women find gaming a waste of time? Is it not social or stimulating enough in the ways that women want?

maybe , but the other thing is men and women would be so different then because men dont find socialising as stimulating as games and women vice versa its a bit eerie

what?! ever heard of online gaming? it's extremely social. admittedly, it's mostly just swearing...but I've often come across people who are really great to talk to.

and gaming spawns many forums, like the mysites! can't say these aren't social

Different people are just into different things.
But people who are into gaming don't have to limit themselves to only that. Gamers socialize with people the way non-gamers socialize. But we also do that online with other gamers as well. lol

I think most of it is just societies opinion on gaming. It's changing, so more people are getting into gaming or coming out of the gaming closet.

I talk to people at work etc and some of them play games so then we have discussions about what games we have and what we think of them. In some cases these discussions have led to me (or them) replaying a game thought to be "crap" because the other person's opinion or tips has made it of interest.

It was a joke. You know how when someone reveals that they are gay they "come out of the closet". In this case I was referring to the "gaming closet".
Jokes aren't that funny when they are explained.

yes, she has used it may a time over at mypsp

anyways, i think (the majority) of girls arn't that interested in gaming, whilst if they do play, they enjoy things like wii.

saying that though, some girls play hardcore games and like to ripp zombies eyes out and eat them (cherrona )

lol, but i think making games aimed at girls only works if the girl it lik 10 or under.

Aw, come on guys, I'm not that freaky. I draw the line at eating eyes. Although I do have a jar of puppy dog eyes as a warning to people not to suck up to me (people always make puppy dog eyes when they want something). The jar doesn't work though...

And yeah, games like Barbie appeal to young girls because they're made for young girls. Either that or it could just be a funny coincidence that little girls like little girly games....
(no, I haven't had any soft drink, so I'm not that hypo )

Even Ken broke up with her, doesn't say much really does it

I'll do a review of the Bratz game soon, I did Boogie today.

You other girls should do reviews of the games you have, we need a Girl Gamers Review section or like an icon denoting girl gamer review
