Thanks guys, lol yeah... i'm a bit of a game freak but i jus can't help myself

Stormstruk, i've now been working in a funeral home since i was 15yo. Absolutely love it. Also looked at nursing too. Still might do yet, as they are building a new hosital and nursing tafe in the next suburb over.

oh and as for all my consoles, i dont play PSX anymore - its locked away in my closet. The PS2 only gets played when i want to play Manhunt and my fiance has conned my PSP off me for work. The DS is starting to collect dust. The PS3 is being overworked with GTA4 and the Wii is currently having an afternoon break till i pick up the remote again lol

Well, sure, if you put it like that...it doesn't sound so bad.

But I find it depressing.

I was contemplating a job as a funeral home attended not too long ago! lol
But only because it was one of the very few options i had.
I dont know if i would be the best person for the job, but like storm said, its giving people the right send off, and thats deffinately commendable misselke!

Elke do you get exposed to all aspects of working in a funeral home?

I also contemplated a career in the area, I wasn't so fond of the amazingly large list of responsibilities!

I guess you would have to keep a light attitude about it.

I've always admired people who give speeches at other peoples funerals.

Mind you I've only been to two funerals, hopefully it stays that way for some time yet.

I spoke at a funeral once not too long ago. Not something I thought I'd ever be brave enough to do, but you'd be surprised how brave you can be when you're saying your goodbyes to someone. You don't have the thought in your head of how many people you're speaking to, because in your head you're only speaking to one person.

I could never be around that much death for a living though. I have full respect for anyone that can orgnise and go to funerals for a career. I always wondered if it would numb you to death somewhat.

Very true Omi. Out of the two funerals I have been to, one was extremely upsetting as I knew the person quite well. I didn't speak though, I knew if I did I'd burst into tears and wouldn't be able to continue (mind you I already was pretty tearful) and I didn't want that to happen.

It must have been pretty hard to speak.

What a depressing subject!

When I die I want my funeral to be more of a celebration of my life rather than a goodbye. I think a lot of people feel that way though?

Reminds me of that Sci Fi story I read once, they had an occupation called "Speaker for the Dead" and these people would be professional Eulogisers. Interesting job I reckon!

Really? You're missing out then, I've been a gamer since eight years and still love it.

In fact, I beat my partner, Gibbo, at it frequently hehe (fingers crossed he doesn't read this post ).

Just one in our household. It's enough of a battle to share the XBox and Wii between the one television, let alone adding more gizmos to the mix...

My girlfriend is in her last semester of a games programming course. She's actually really good too. She made a First Person shooter as her last semester's project and next semester she's making a Tennis game as lead programmer.
And yeah we enjoy playing games together aswell.

I'm 35 and I've been playing video games since I was a kid. My first "console" was one of those pong games. It had like 16 different games, all a variation of the standard pong game. lol. I had the original Nintendo Game & Watch when it came out. I had a few of those, actually. I still have my Donkey Kong one. I bought the NES when it came out too but don't have it any more unfortunately. I played my friend's Wii once and was hooked. I bought mine a few weeks back but haven't got to play it a lot because I've been really sick. Looking forward to getting back into it.
