Omi said: This same guy likes a girl to walk on his right if we're walking down the street, so he's closest to the road. Apparently this dates back to the days when horses ruled the road, so he'd be the first one hit if a horse went mental.
It cracks me up.
No, it's so that if a carriage or car goes through a puddle and kicks up some water, the girl's expensive outfit or belaboured hair won't be ruined. I do the same where possible, but subtly.

People should hold the door open for anyone regardless of whether or not someone is young, old, male, or female.
If I'm going through a door, and there's someone behind me wanting to go through it too, then I hold the door open for them. And I expect the same from other people too.
But when it comes to a car door, I can open that myself.

I played Ghost Squad with my friend yesterday night at the arcade. I scored perhaps five times what she did. I told her that if anyone asked, I was stealing her kills.
Also, Juno is a good movie.

Move your own damn photocopier!!
Honestly, if a girl can move the photocopier herself, then she should! And I would.
That's kinda what I meant before about until you treat yourself equal, no one else will.

Exactly the same. I don't care who the person behind me is - age, gender, race, etc - if they are behind me I'll hold the door for them. No questions asked.
Omi said: I just think that it takes it all a step back and turns us back into the novelty, the gimmick we have been for so long that I'd really like to try and escape from.
But I'd really like to know what everyone else thinks these icons say. I'd like to hear some guys opinions of what thay would think in seeing them on a review aswell.
I'm completely split in regards to this topic with the girl gamers icons. I completely get Omi and agree but at the same time see other thoughts as well.
I'd really like girls playing video games to be as common and normal as guys playing games but for that to happen I think people need to realise that us girls do play games and not necessarily just the "girly" games. If we however just go around trying to blend in then heaps of people will people will probably just remain oblivious to what is happening out there in the real world.
Overall I'm not convinced I'd like a big flashy thing on the reviews st

stating that a girl wrote it. Afterall until things really change in the gaming world then a lot of people will probably go 'written by a female... what does she know.', 'Must be girly if they liked it' or something along those lines. I don't think that would be of any benefit to anyone. However, I don't mind the idea of a little image (like 50-px by 50px or 25...) to tack onto our game reviews that say girl gamer. So then after someone gets to the bottom of an amazing review for some shooter game they'd see a female wrote it & liked it & hopefully long term may change someone's view on girls and games.
Just my two cents worth...
Ha! I live in such a little idealistic world in my little head.

OMG... i just realised why i made those images..
I didnt realise where these images would be put or anything (had no clue)
. After reading twistedang's comment I dont think they should be put on the bottom of a review. I understand where people are coming from now as it shouldnt matter who wrote these reviews. Good game or not Its still an opinion. Oooh Dam

Yeah, It's good to actually see a reply when I post lol! I'll talk to Nell about it, she may be getting a Wii soon so that should entice her
you should get Amy on here...
And on a different topic about the whole sexist gaming thing, I don't mean to annoy anyone, but who cares?
If I go into EB, or any game shop, I'm there to buy a game and have a look because I like it. So if anyone wants to judge me as I do it, or be surprised because I'm a girl, that's their own problem, it has nothing to do with me. I have better things to do than worry about what other people think of me enjoying games.
I have owned a lot of game consoles (mostly Nintendo) and have showed a lot of girl mates and they haven't cared less and it doesn't bother me, I won't try to convert them, it's their own choice. I don't think it has much to do with a stereotype, a lot of girls just don't like games and there is nothing wrong with that.
Mind you... it doesn't mean us girls that do like games aren't good at it
If there is a feminine logo on the bottom of reviews then it becomes a battle over who has the best, and then what's stopping guys demanding their own logo? It's just silly, should be about each individual gamer, not their sex.
I'm sorry again if I have offended anyone, I didn't mean to, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion right? Also, I’m sorry If I’ve repeated someone’s post as I didn’t read all of them on this topic

OK after reading all the replies I'd just like to state a couple of things.
This thread was made for female gamers to make themselves known to each other and to add a "sub-community" to the MyWii forums. I fail to see how putting a smallish icon on a review denoting that a girl gamer gave her opinion is in anyway demeaning or segregational. I thought it would just be a point of interest for any interested readers.
Stemming from this idea was also the thought that people could read the review and know that a girl played the game, thought about it and then bothered to review it. I fail to see why standing out as a female gamer who writes reviews is necessarily a negative thing, why should we "blend in"? Would "blatant" female opinions on games make the guys nervous?
At the end of the day I thought that having a visible icon along with this forum thread would generate interest and possibly attract other female gamers to this site and possibly making their own contribution to MyWii in general.

It's segregational because it's seperating us from the male members of this site. It's giving us special treatment, in a way. Why would you want special treatment? What's stopping the guys on here wanting their own little icon? Nothing. But would they do it? No! And if they did we'd all be calling sexist. Which goes back to my previous point of not being equal until you treat yourself as equal.
To seperate anything into girl/boy is adhereing to the whole marketing at one sex or the other. I could honestly go on and on about how that is a bad idea. But I already have, I don't want to just go repeating myself.
I want to blend in because I am the same! I don't want to make a statement. I just wanna play my games, without seeming to be a novelty, or expecting special treatment, I'm not special. I don't wanna be different because I'm a girl. I wanna be different because I'm me, just like every other male or female on this site. I just wanna shoot zombies.
And I just wish I could today
I have to go to a wedding. I just can't wait until the ceremony's over so I can get drunk and forget I'm there
So someone shoot a zombie for me today
That's if anyone's got the game...
Anyone playing Resi UC?

OK Omi, you blend in and be treated the same.
At the end of the day it's a Game/Console site for the amusement of those people who wish to discuss the games/console. I fail to see how a small icon is going to demean, segregate or whatever a section of that site community.
In other words it's just some fun
Hope you had fun at the wedding, I like weddings, I've been to some sensational ones!

I can see both points to this argument.
I don't want to be treated differently to the guys, but I'm also proud to be a female gamer regardless of how common or rare we are.
I know, I'm sort of contradicting myself. lol
Personally I don't see the harm in a small pic though. That's not really going to open the flood gates and cause all sorts of chaos.
It may actually help to encourage more girl gamers to join. That point has already been argued though.

Okay, I will
And I think I have. When people on this site realised that I was a girl, and one of only a small handful back then, there was a bit of the old OMG it's-a-girl! But that died down quickly and my opinion was respected or sometimes argued with not because I was female, but because of who I am. I blended in, and I like it that way
It's up to the individual if you want to do this thing, I'm not here to tell you what to do. I was just saying it how I see it, you take that on board if you see fit. But let it be known that I won't be upset if any of the guys want to put a little logo on their reviews, "boy gamer", or just "normal gamer". haha.

Why thank you kind sir!
I'm still a noob at the game, playing through on normal.I have all B scores and one C, Although I have had a few S grades for number of kills and critical hits! I was very pleased with myself when I realised that S didn't stand for ****!
I haven't had a chance to play all week
The last one I did was the first stage after the mansion, with the dirty great big worm
I found that level to be a big jump in difficulty compared to the relatively quick ones previous. Lots of swearing, which just makes me like the game more!

I played the first two levels again yesterday, to see if I had actually gotten any better at the game. And YAY! I got an S grade on the first, and an A on the second

Grats Omi. I'd suggest you get a Files Guide off of Gamefaqs and go through getting them all on easy. From then on, you'll always score a minimum rank of B on that level.
