anyway, I went into EB last weekend (yes I know...but they were the only store that had it in stock) to buy a copy of Patapon (psp if you don't know). Anyway, I walk in, hand my money over, and walk out, browsing as I go.
And as I leave I hear the store guys arguing about whether I know what a PSP is
That's funny yet disturbing. When will the male race of gamers learn to accept that some of us girls DO play games.

Sounds to me like we need a thread devoted to the cr@p that we girls go through at EB... *sigh*
Haha, you're so right.
Once wooped a guys ass on tekken 4 (2yrs back) he couldnt beleive it and kept saying "oh i let you win" "You just fluked it" I mean seriously, i had to beat him another two times to get it through to his thick brain!
And once i was playing cs, someguy laughed and said "OMG you play cs, haha" i didn't know whether or not to take offence so i just ignored him and sipped on my jelly joy.
PS: HI emiliakc! im guessing your new ? well i am too

I'm not sure who this omni character is, but I'm very much a female
Well beats me, we all like gaming so all is fine and dandy to me I've been looking about and seems that quite afew people like links crossbow training thought i might just grab that. And Resdevil was on my list b4 i got the wii, so i'm really looking forward to playing it. Just that im TOTALLY BROKE atm, so sucks. Uni literally soaks up money by the day, i should go back to brining sandwiches to school.
Sorry about the consecutive post i made earlier, havnt been on forums lately and totally forgot about those simple forum rules.
OH and thanks for the welcome! AND sorry about the super duper long post, had a long day, and lots of things to talk about!
Does anyone have suggestions for good "party games with multiplayers?
Since you won't be able to afford a lot of games for a while, why not wait for Mario Kart as your multiplayer game? It's a must buy, imo! And Resi: UC has co-op, so two of you can have fun
The only party game I've got is WarioWare, a bit of fun doing all those silly moves in front of people but it gets boring pretty fast.
OH! And you've just scored a ton of my respect for that avatar pic

We've all been there. Sometimes you've just gotta keep winning to get them to shut up. Pity you can't walk into EB games with your CS credentials, tho. Wait until you get a bit older, and then it gets even worse: you're a girl AND you look like somebody's mother...

New GP Correspondent Goes Ballistic on Sexist Game Blog
Perhaps Kim Rom's attempt at humor was lost in the transatlantic fiber optic, but to myself and one would expect, all female gamers, the Danish blogger's rant Female gaming my ass is mightily offensive. It's hard not to take things personally when Rom (seen at left) is so brutally direct in his assessment of women gamer teams:
...the real problem with female gaming is that female gamers in general have the same ambitions as men - but they lack the dedication and the drive to fulfil those ambitions... Male gamers outshine them in every way imaginable... So, for the audience, female gaming isn't interesting at all. It's a joke. But funny thing - most of them actually do attract sponsors. Here is why:
They have vaginas. They have asses. They have tits. They have mouths. That more or less covers the 4 primary selling-points for female gaming teams."
For Rom, head of communications (!) for game gear makers SteelSeries and Icemat, the problem seems not so much about female gamers but about gender in general. Sure, "female gaming" is a great concept, but in reality such
Continued:
The blogger, who describes himself as a "solid state futurist and digital karma atheist," questions the chops of female gamers and conflates their perceived lack of skill with gender. At the same time he totally ignores social factors that dissuade women from pursuing technological expertise. By his own account, gamers should be held to mythic biological standards of competitiveness and commitment defined by men.
By holding that women gamers are sponsored solely for their physical beauty illustrates just how wrong-headed and testosterone-fueled his argument is. Had he had actually read the interview he linked with successful Danish woman gamer Vildkatten (wildcat), he might have taken note of her commitment to serious Counter-strike training.
As it stands, Rom's view is not only sexist, but also misplaced. He singles out a particular female team and assumes their identity as women (or, "camwhores," as he so callously refers to them) supersedes their gaming strategies and competitive success. By diminishing the women's online presence, participation, and performance in relation to their physiological attributes, Rom extends the discrimination of real life gender inequalities into cyberspace.

What?????
"Male gamers outshine them in every way imaginable"
That's a load of %$&^#@83$(^%
I thought we'd gotten rid of the whole gender wars thing ages ago. Why can't we just applaud good gamers for their skill? The blogger sounds like he's just jealous that he can't play well enough for a sponsorship deal...

I'm a male gamer who will say...I'm a hardcore gamer but has had my ass kicked by girls at halo 3 ,mario kart, SSBM, and Goldeneye(N64) and I'm supporting girl gamers for the fact that they are more fun to play games with...they dont shout or swear and they dont rub it in your face when they win...gir gamers tend to play the games for fun...even when it's serious there's a relaxed side to it... (glad I could get my say in)

This Rom fellow is probably bitter because the only thing the Danes are known for now is Lego and Princess Mary (who hails from Australia).
This rant of his doesn't insult me, it's so far off most people's thoughts that it's a joke.
However it has triggered discussion and highlighted the fact that there are "hard core" girl gamers out there and there is no such thing as bad publicity.
In conclusion he's a d!ck and girl gamers will continue on with their fun regardless of his misogynist views.

Depending if I'm working or not...
When I am working, maybe an hour a day, when I am not working, up to 6 hours a day (not non-stop, I tend to game for an hour or two then go and do something else for a while etc)

Hmmm, thats a tricky one.
It really depends on what else ive got on. There are some days, or even some weeks
where i dont touch my console, and then there are times when im addicted lol
Sorry i cant be more precise, but i'd say that when i do play, an hour or two stint wouldnt be unusual. And like storm there are times when i may play for an hour, do something else and then come back for another while.
:) Hope this helps!
