Hey girls, welcome!

I'm sure you'll love the wii. I've been addicted to Wii Fit lately. It's taking up quite a bit of time.

Has anyone unlocked everything yet? I'm only about halfway through.

Hi everyone Just bought my Wii today! Just finished playing all the games on Wii Play to get used to how it all works. I must say I'm very impressed with the responsiveness of the remotes.

Bought a couple of games aswell but am yet to try them out. Just taking it slow, getting a feel for how it all works.

Just wondering, is there a good site that gives you tips and tricks on how to use the Wii?

~ Kara

EDIT: I am addicted already! Problem is, everyone in my family wants a turn!

One quote seemed to stand out to me:

"The fact is after the age of fourteen, there’s nothing left for girl gamers to play"

Do you guys think that's true?

I did give the link a look and I'm not sure what to say?
Adults spend the money on games but by the looks of the link when girls get to be women they don't seem to count anymore.

Correct me if I've read it wrong but surely that needs to be addressed.

I don't know that the writer is actually correct. Well, maybe partly right, but not completely.

There are games like the Sims that seem to work with girls over 14 (mind you, that's only the one game with bazillions of expansion packs)

hmmmmmm.......i dont think you have read my Bio. iam not a girly girl. so i dont think i dont like to girly huddle. well video games.....they are my friends. i got into video games when my cousin said that video games are not my thing.
then i started playing as many video games as i can and then i beat my 1st super mario game.

well i got interested to the Wii when i 1st saw. i was like, " i have to have that" and then when i asked my father for a Wii for christmas. and he did. and then i beated my boy cousins in all my games. i do not want to list all my games so you can go to my Mii profile and look at the section that says, " Games I Have" so there you can see.

people i don't like girly talk.
so please never say "girly huddle"
and i stand for every boy here.

Gah.
I'm not a girly girl either. But I'm not a tomboy, I'm just me.
The girly huddle thing was a bit of a joke... So please don't tell me not to say anything ever again.

What is girly talk? If you mean talking about your nails and hair and what boy you like this week then no, that's not going to happen here, it's a gaming site You saying that you stand for every boy here I don't understand. Why do you need to stand for anyone? Why does it have to be one or the other? Just be you, matey.

Welcome to the thread, taky I'll try to keep my girliness to a minimum for you

biinkii, I'm not quite sure how to put what I want to say about that link..

What an idiot. He's just trying to find a seemingly intelligent way of saying, girl's don't like games as much as guys. Really, I'm getting sick of people pointing that out without any actual reason as to why. Find something to say before you speak

Good article biinkii. In a way that statement is true, there aren't many games aimed specifically for females after that age. It seems that they just aimed them at guys, or everyone, because I don't think they, or anyone knows what women want after they've hit puberty.

It might indeed come down to the way boys and girls play. Young boys like trucks and pretending to be ninjas and army men fighting in a war. Girls like to play dress ups and pretend to cook, and put make-up on an all that girly goo. When we grow up we do all those things for real, we don't want to play a game involving it. We don't dream of being princesses or ballerinas anymore, whereas guys still enjoy pretending to be ninjas and use their games as an escape and to be all those cool things they never could in real life. Mind you, I quite like pretending to be a ninja myself!....

... But it doesn't seem that there is anything left to fantasize about for us girls alone. Then what do we actually want? We want games that stimulate our minds, grip us emotionally. We are more emotionally based than men, when we shoot someone we want to feel the emotion behind it. At least that's my thinking. I know I get more into a game the more attached I get to the characters and the story.

If they incorporated this into more games, it wouldn't just please those of us of the female variety, it would make games more complete and compelling as a whole. If they stopped trying to aim games at either guys or just girls and incorporated what both sexes liked, they'd find us all a little happier. They need to stop the seperation thing.

Goodness me, I'd better not comment on the rest of the article or I'll be here forever

Making games that appeal to both genders is to me an exercise in futility. Jack of all trades and master of none, you know? It's not like the games out there have no hope of appealing to girls; I once heard a story of a girl breaking up with her boyfriend because she'd started playing WoW just for him, but he wouldn't play Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter with her.

It would be like making a sports game that appeals to people who have no interest in sports; they're just not going to try it.

I don't pay much attention to the weight. I usually only put my goal at 1kg but it's at nil atm, because the thing told me off when I reached my goal in three days I pay more attention to, and am trying to get better at the exercises, I find that's more realistic and fun and less stressful than worrying about how much you weigh.

Omi........there is no reason to be mean about it. i am just a 11 year old girl going to middle school that is trying to have a life here. and i can stand for anyone if i wanted to. so please that message you post is a bit defensive..............i do not need anymore of this. my grandmother died today so please iam not in the mood for fighting weather who is right and who is wrong. i think we are both wrong.(i know this hurts to say.) but we should get over that fact, about the girly huddle thing. and start all over. if you don't then that is ok. well i will message you later......maybe?

Oh deary me. taky, I wasn't being mean. I was trying to point out the fact that this thread isn't just about girls getting together being girly. It's about making us feel welcome in a place that is so male dominated. It's about not having to stand for one sex or the other, you don't have to be either boyish or girly, you just have to be yourself and be greatful that you can be No one's right, no one's wrong. It's okay!

Hey : D

Am so happy to see a group for girl gamers! I have just recently got my wii! I am loving it so much. My husband has been in to gaming for ages. I got him an xbox 360 last year and got in to car racing and guitar hero 3 with him...but the wii is the first console I've had for myself. I have mario and sonic olympic games and sports...if you have any recommendations for other games that would be great. DDR is at the top of my list to get. My husband is very much in to strategy/fighting games which I'm not sure about but if anyone thinks there are some good ones out there, am happy to give them a go.
