desi said: It's a toss-up between the ASUS MW221U 22" widescreen and the ChiMei 22" widescreen.

Chimei is much cheaper, so I'll probably go for that. Any objections?

Thanks for the advice. I can actually get the ASUS LCD for $379 on the Gold Coast. The look of the Chimei is a little bland for my tastes.

Well, I just finished building my girlfriend's father's computer yesterday. I'm pleased to say that this little setup is quite awesome for Windows Vista, considering the price:

-Intel ATX E4500 CORE 2 DUO /2.2GHz/2MB CACHE/800 FSB/LGA775 (4.9 Windows Experience)
-Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2
-2GB (2x 1GB Kit)(667MHz) Corsair (4.8 Windows Experience - Dual Channel)
-Western Digital 320G SATAII 7200 rpm HDD(16Mb Cache) (5.8 Windows Experience)
-Sapphire HD2400PRO 256MB 64-BIT DDR2 (3.8 and 3.4 Windows Experience)

That Sapphire graphics card for $67 handles Vista very well. Windows Aero runs very smoothly.

I have a 221D Chimei, it looks plain and tasteless, but i am happy with the way it performs. plus, i saved a lot of money.

i was going to buy the HP w2207 but it was over my budget.

God dammit people. If you have a motherboard/cpu combination supporting 800mhz ram and you use 677mhz ram, it's such a waste! I would never create a bottleneck like that in my pc.

EIDT: I would also prefer 2x160 gig HDD running in RAID config. Its a little trickier to setup, but the computer will think it's a single 320gig hdd and with 2 cables physically accessing it, it doubles the data transfer rate from 300mb/s to 600mb/s

It's called budget constraints! It runs fine.

EDIT: I don't entirely trust RAID 0 configuration. What if one hdd goes down? You lose everything. Plus i'm not into wasting money on multiple hdd's for other raid configs just to have the same amount of space.

Largely unrelated to the topic of monitors, I just lost an eBay auction for a VGA Box, which lets you play Composite-input consoles on a computer monitor that doesn't have non-VGA/DVI inputs of its own. Play-Asia was selling the same model for about $58 shipping inclusive, some guy sniped me for $71, shipping exclusive.

I'm getting a VGA Box that does YPbPr for the same price instead.

I was originally looking at those. The only ones left are the 5ms response time ones, I want the 2ms model.

That would be pretty cool to have.

Vague: Unclear. I'm saying i might be going crazy because I might not understand your question...

Do you mean information about that stuff or where to get this stuff from? If you mean how we knew this information, well, me personally, i've been building/fixing computers for over 10 years, so personal experience and a whole lot of reading...

I don't have one source. Google is great for finding the info you need. Back when I first started, it was a lot of trial and error. You have to just sit there and be patient. I read magazines and lately a lot of online forums discussions to help me if I have a problem.

Hmm. I think anything other than Microsoft have a good range for wireless. Unless you get the Microsoft bluetooth ones (Do they sell these still?). I think the prices range from around $100-$300. I can't recommend any as I don't use any. I did purchase a Dell branded one (mouse and keyboard) which had an excellent range. $10 I payed for that off ebay.
