What do you mean 3D elements? If you look deeper in the Graphics menu, there are actually hidden sliders for the graphic quality of Models and World. There in a submenu, silly enough. From a fresh installation, the sliders are only pulled halfway. Perhaps this is your problem?

phat, I see you've got Vietcong there. Is it a very tactical shooter, like ArmA, or is it arcadey like Advanced Warfighter?

I would have to say it's probably more arcadey, just like playing call of duty etc...
