Desi Says: Also, don't get so much RAM. RAM only stores instructions for the CPU to process, and if your CPU is fast (you should be getting at least 2.4Ghz) then all that RAM is storing nothing, and going to waste. 2GB is enough.

Nah, I don't. I've just bought more and more over time and added them.

Standard SATA speeds are fast enough for me anyway, I'm more about capacity than speed.

I'll seriously consider it when I get new drives though. 400s are cheap now. 4 of them would be nice.

zoidberg you champion! i got quoted yesterday to get built: 2.4htz dual core processer, 500g hard drive, 3g ram, tv card (no monitor) plug into tv, multicard reader, keyboard & mouse, 20xdvd burner, ga-7300gt 256mb garphics card, software fully loaded (xp) ready to plug & play for $1300. should get it cheaper coz i can pay cash. 2-3 days to build. what you guys think?

The best processor atm imho is the q6600, assuming you get the SLACR G0 revision. You can overclock to 4Ghz on stock cooling.

just when im running games and stuff...its not too bad now... runs vista ultimate fairly nicely... could be better tho...oh and i only have 512mb ram

32mb dedicated radeon 9600 mobility grapics (+96mb shared - i think, maybe only +64shared)
anyway, any tips for me? for overclocking or making my graphics better/faster :P

Mac Pro has a 16-lane PCI-E card. It apparently comes with either a NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB, ATI Radeon X1900 XT 512MB, or NVIDIA Quadro FX 4500 512MB.

I can't tell you about the 8800GTX's compatibility with a Mac mobo.
