Character Unlock Guide

In Brawl, you start of with 21 characters to choose from. That sounds like a lot doesn't it? But, there happens to be more that you can unlock! Some of them are newcomers and some of them have appeared in the previous installments of Super Smash Bros.

How to Unlock Ness


• Play 5 matches
• Reflect 10 projectiles
• Get Ness to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Marth


• Play 10 matches
• Finish Classic mode on any difficulty level
• Get Marth to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Luigi


• Play 22 matches
• Beat Classic with no continues
• Get Luigi to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Falco


• Play 50 matches
• Clear the 100-man Brawl
• Get Falco to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Captain Falcon


• Play 70 matches
• Beat Classic mode on Normal (or higher) in less than 12 minutes
• Get Captain Falcon to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Lucario


• Play 100 matches
• Beat Target Smash!! on all difficulty levels (in 1 or 2 player mode)
• Get Lucario to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock R.O.B.


• Play 160 matches
• Get 250 different trophies
• Get R.O.B to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Mr. Game & Watch


• Play 250 matches
• Clear Target Smash!! with 30 different characters on any single difficulty
• Get Mr. Game and Watch to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Ganondorf


• Play 200 matches
• Using either Zelda or Link, clear Classic mode on Hard or higher
• Get Ganondorf to join your party in The Subspace Emissary*
*To do this, you must save Link and Zelda later in the game, once you do that, Ganondorf will join your party after you finish the stage.

How to Unlock Jigglypuff


• Play 350 matches
• Beat 20 or more events after clearing The Subspace Emissary
• Pass through the hidden door in The Swamp area after completing The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Toon Link


• Play 400 matches
• After clearing The Subspace Emissary, clear Classic mode
• Pass through the hidden door in The Forest area after completing The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Wolf


• Play 450 matches
• Beat the Boss Battles mode with Fox or Falco after completing The Subspace Emissary
• Pass through the hidden door in The Ruins area after completing The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Sonic


• Play 300 matches
• Beat Classic mode with 10 different characters
• Play brawls for 10 hours
• Get Sonic to join your party in The Subspace Emissary

How to Unlock Snake


• Play 130 matches
• Play 15 matches on Shadow Moses Island
• Get Snake to join your party in The Subspace Emissary


And that's how you unlock all the characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl! However, once you do one of the methods above to unlock a specific character, you'll have to fight that character! Beat them, and you'll have them.
This makes a total of 35 characters to choose from.

the easiest and best way to unlock them is to just do the SSE all the other ways are crap and theres no point plus unlocking them in the SSE is more fun
