N64 Super Smash Bros Coming to Japanese Virtual Console

Without doubt the original N64 version of Super Smash Bros. is one of, if not the most wanted title on the Virtual Console. As Nintendo released Super Metroid just before the release of Metroid Prime 3: Corruption there was hope the first game in the Smash Bros. series would see a virtual re-release just before the debut of Super Smash Bros Brawl, but it was not to be.

The good news for anyone living in Japan, or perhaps more realistically on an Aussie site, owning a Japanese Wii, is that the game is making it's way to the Virtual Console in the land of the Rising Sun during January 2009. Being a highly anticipated title it'll see you back a little extra cash at 1200 Wii Points rather than the usual 1000 for a N64 game.

What does this mean for those of you in Australia or the US? Well nothing really, except that the Japanese Virtual Console is way better than ours. But at least there is a glimmer of hope that it could one day reach Aussie shores.

Chrono Trigger went to DS, so I doubt they'll release it for a much cheaper price on Wii now.

I was referring to WADS... No, it's still just as slow. But the creator of daedalus, a PSP N64 emulator which does a great job, announced a new project. Rumours have been saying it's going to be coming to Wii.

I'm pretty sure the internet has stopped besides Japan

& by that I mean clearly Nintendo of Japan are the only one's making any announcements or actually doing anything over the Christmas/New Year time, since sites aren't really reporting anything else.

This game is kinda different to Melee and Brawl, combat wise. It's got a different.....feel to it. Anyway, I'll definately be getting this if it comes to Aus, which it will. I mean, it has to.....right?

i'm not gonna lie, and i really hope i don't offend anybody

but "IN MY OPINION," that says alot about ssbb doesn't it?
like i'm not a #1 customer of the shopping channel, so that's probably the reason why this is "MY OPINION."

But i'm more hoping that there's gonna be a Super Smash bro's Melee wii-make with "hopefully" better graphics and added features such as; online mode (good quality), wii speak, smash ball, more characters and stages.

With that being said i would alternatively like a new Smash Bro's game for the reason of ssbb being dumbed down. And online was cheesy (not only quality) but didn't have online tourney and that kinda game needs wii speak and to work around friendcodes dudes.

But please remember, it's just "MY OPINION" so please don't be offended
i just wish everyone could experience the ultimate smash bro's experience

hey dude you ok

like ssbb had no wii speak, did not work around friend code, had the worse online quality i've ever experience on any other game, it felt weird (dumbed-down/noobed-up) set to 2:5 or something, and only online modes were "free for all" 4 players worldwide and 4 friends playing together.

please be honest, that was not an "ultimate smash bro's experience."
If it is yours then fair enough but it most certainly is not mine.

Couldn't agree more.

I don't care what anyone says Smash Bros N64 is the best of the series. It started it all and it really pushed the console to its limits.

Brawl just never caught the originals charm. Melee was a great improvement.

I just feel Brawl has no soul. It's not bad it just isn't awesome. Just didn't feel like the original at all.

I was devestated when brawl didn't have that level from SSB64 where you are in the sky and there is that bumber in the middle and the platform slides from side to side. There is a tiny little roof in the middle too if I recall. Best Smash Bros level ever.

A group of friends and I have been modifying our Wiis and now we can directly put N64 roms to be played on our Wii. We even have the controller setup for it and everything. We just plug in our flash drives and play. So for me the Wii is serving it's purpose by allowing me to play games from Nintendo's Golden age.

If Nintendo would make a Nintendo 64 controller for the Wii, instead of always having to use a GameCube or classic controller, N64 virtual console games would be far more awesome since then control tutorials in the game would actually apply to your controller

I don't like Virtual Console as much as the real thing-I always try to get the original games rather than downloading them.
