Wii Sports - 8/10
Wii sports is not a game you would just go out and buy, it’s a game that can only be purchased by buying a Wii, which is exactly how it should be bought. Because Wii Sports comes with the Wii to show what the Wii can do (gameplay wise not graphics wise). Wii Sports is the best game to show of the Wii’s potential.
Wii Sports consists of five sports, Tennis, Baseball, Bowling, Golf and Boxing all of which are multiplayer. Tennis is me and my friends’ favorite simply because it feels so natural. When you swing the Wii remote as if you were swinging a tennis racket you can hear your racket hit the ball through a speaker in the Wii remote and feel the vibration of the racket hitting the ball. This makes a perfect example of what the Wii can do. Baseball is fun but not long lasting. Batting in baseball is actually pretty fun but it’s the pitching I don’t like. Pitching is too easy and if you hold down A and B while pitching to pitch so softly that the ball’s almost impossible to hit! Where’s the challenge in that? Bowling is great. Just like tennis it feels natural and realistic. You can curve like you would in real life which makes bowling an excellent party game. Golf is pretty good. Although it’s a little hard golf is pretty fun if it had better controls for putting. The reaction from the Wii remote either a little fast or slow which makes you make a mistake more than regularly. Although you eventually get used to this it’s still nevertheless annoying. Boxing is the only sport that requires that you use the nunchuck. The Wii may not register your movements straight away but is hardly noticeable when your playing boxing because it’s so much fun to punch someone in the face as though you were doing the real thing with the help of vibrations and a speaker in the Wii remote.
Don’t think Wii Sports stops there, as you play each sport you get points and when you get to 1000 you are then ‘Pro’ at that sport. This makes you want to get pro at each sport so you’ll keep playing. But if that isn’t enough there are three training games for each sport to help you get better. There’s also a fitness test that’ll measure fitness age, 20 being the lowest. Everything on Wii Sports is multiplayer making it a multiplayer game so make sure that when you play this great sport/party game, you play it with friends!
