Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - 8/10
By Azza123
Guitar Hero, a great game for anyone, whether you like to play with friends or like to play alone. The Guitar Hero series has taken off really well, with 4 games already out, well five if you count the Mobile Phone game. There's plenty more to come, Guitar Hero DS, Guitar Hero: On Tour, Guitar Hero: Aerosmith and Guitar Hero IV. It's a wonder how such a simple game can become very popular around the world, if you think about it, all you are doing is matching the colours on the screen with the buttons on the Guitar. But a fantastic game it is, with all the music choices you simply couldn't want anymore.
Gameplay
Great, but where's Guitar God
*Green* *Blue* *Green* *Blue* .... Oh, got caught up in the moment. With it's addicting game play, and great choices of music, you'd be sure to find that's it's a great game. Basically, you're in a band, well... a rock band. You have to play songs at concerts to earn money and sponsorships and with that money you can buy Guitars, Songs, Characters, Videos, and Clothing. The things you purchase don't really help you in the game, they are merely things that look good, minus the Videos and Songs.
The more songs you play, the more money you will earn, also you can earn more money by getting it 5-star or even 5 Gold Stars (AKA 100%). You will not earn any money from getting a 5-Star to 100%, but it is something to be proud of. This game is Wi-Fi enabled, thank-god. Which means you can play online, in either Co-Op, Battle, Face-Off or Pro Face-Off. I did notice a little lag in Wi-Fi, which can throw you off, but overall it's great.
Graphics/Detail
It does look good, doesn't it.
You may hear a lot of complaining about the graphics, but it's not really that bad. In fact, it's not bad at all. Sure, it's not as good as the Xbox 360 version, or the PS3 version but who really cares about graphics when you're rocking out with the guitar. You do notice the character detail isn't nearly as good as the other versions but it's still above standard. The lip-sync is good, along with the hand movements on the Guitar, but they could be improved. The Guitars could also have a bit more detail in them, to make them look a bit more real, but it's good the way they are at the moment.
Sound
Only put them here, because it's what I use.
....*Welcome to the Jungle, We got Fun and Games.....* Wow, a great soundtrack, Welcome to the Jungle, Miss Murder, Sabotage, Helicopter, Knights of Cydonia, 3's and 7's, Bulls On Parade, The Metal, Paint it Black and many, many other great songs by many other great artists. You've got heaps to choose from, once you've played them all once, you'll want to go back, just to listen to them all again and again. Don't think you won't be listening to the music when you're playing, it makes so much more of a difference with the sound up, it nearly feels real. Overall, great Soundtrack and wasn't disappointed at all.
Overall
Gameplay - 8.5/10
Graphics - 8/10
Sound - 8/10
I hope you enjoy rocking on with Guitar Hero, and I hope you enjoyed reading this review.
