Thats fine i just don't like it when you create a system that puts those who are in the factory on unfair working conditions and pay.

But thats what happens with most of the higher paid jobs anyway. And always have. You sign a performance based contract. You generaly arent covered under any award and you deal with it. Ask any number of CEO's out there what Award they are covered under... No they are not. They dont run to someone to back them up and protect. They work for their place.

Oh but who am I to speak.. Hurry up 2010!!!! Just when the unions were under control too! damn!

I understand that unions do have there use and are need in some areas and help when bring people together for a common cause. But i do feel they are there just to fill there pockets. Seening Union bosses driving in with there new BMW and get people to strike for a weeks at a time, where the members are getting no pay while this is happening. Having them hassle and abuse people that work at the same site just because they are not part of the union and want to keep on working.

Some unions really need to have a good look at themselves.

That is why i refuse to join a union ever again.

The problem is people just like to take the easy way out and just complain and not do anything for themselve.

Good point. do you really know what the people on minimum wage are going through? or are you just saying that cause you had it nice and cozy at home ? What if minimum wage gets worse ? like to the point your living from paycheck to paycheck? what then ? go to school right? no money jump onto welfare. better. and if they dont get a job frmo study back onto welfare while they look for a job.

Thats with just about everything though, everyone's in it to make money whether it be you work at Tip-Top, Crown Casino, a brothel or even a Union.
Just about everywhere in life you will have undeserving individuals or people who do next to nothing who get big pay and drive BMW's.
The thing is most of the time(not always because there are too many who dont)most of the time people work there arses off to become Managers, CEO's or bludgers behind a desk.
You are right though some Unions really do need to look at themselves

CEO's when they are getting into a job have many other high paid choices, they wouldn't get into a position they thought they couldnt handle. Why do you think they get paid so damn much. They're smart and they deserve it but don't compare a CEO's work agreement with a factory workers. Factory/process/cleaners etc. hardly have any better option and their only real option is to take it or leave it.

Yes i know what minimum wage people are going through and I live from paycheck to paycheck. I work as a Security Guard, but I do my job and have never complained to my boss.

Security is one of the most stuffed up work out there. Most of the work is casual work and there is no sick or holiday pay. I have worked for many years under those conditions then i decided to do something about it. Instead of complaining i moved from company to company and finally found a job where I now get Full time work, i get my holiday and sick pay.

I'm just saying there is always better out there and if you work hard and go looking for it you will get the pay you deserve.

Or maybe im just lucky.

Current CEO of Telstra has been in for what 3 years now. He's on performance base. Last time i checked Telstra has run at lower profits then when ziggy was there (former CEO) and Treio (sp?) is still in his job getting payed millions.

Oh and CEO and other high end jobs tend to get something your ordinary employee doesn't get, the golden handshake regardless of how well they ran it.

Don't give me this crap, countless CEO and whoever else back each other up in fear of there own skin. Current Vic Pol anyone.

nice and congratulations on finding a job that suits you.

finding the right job taht suits you is hard, finding a job in the first place is harder so when people get to the point they feel they deserver more they want to bargain they dont want to find another job, for fear of going through the same ordeal they first had to deal with.

some people get lucky some people get thrown around for several years, people want stable lives its a big ask in the lower end of the job market.

yeah, the top positions pay top dollars. but most people can't handle the stress. the smallest of mistakes can cost millions. we all have our place. & management isn't for everyone. sure the benefits are attractive (money) but i don't want the responsibility or the additional stress thanks. it is possible to be happy without it you know. i'm properly the oldest member here. i've been working for years. i'd rather be happy earning an average wage than be a high end manager working 15hr days, answering to the board of directors & dying in my 30's. then you're just slaving away for your family's financial benefit when you die. i'd rather live with people than leave them money & die young....

I was wondering about the advertising embargo. you know, how they can't advertise for a certain amount of time.

does that include billboards? because yesterday when I was going home I saw a massive billboard for the liberals. I was wondering if that was allowed. isnt' that advertising?

I hope Labor takes out the IR Laws so that the Unions can "run" small businesses, crippling small businesses, ultimately bringing the economy down.

I also hope they introduce this super fast broadband and laptops in every classroom with the money the country doesn't have, so that we can go in debt, a term nailed next to Labor everytime they are in federal office.

Seriously people, you can't run a country based on the little people aka "working families". we are a developed country with a strong economy. It's strong because we give power to the people who should have power. Under a Liberal government, if you have a 21 year old who is too lazy to work, they say "stuff you. you're fit and able. if you don't want to work, survive on your own." and that's how it should be. I don't work to help support the "working families". You work harder. Labor's stance is "Oh, he's only 21. Help the kid along." So, my taxes go towards helping a bum get off his fit when he is more then able to do it himself.

Everyone, please, don't be fooled by these "We are for working families" and "New Leadership" slogans. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, and we just outed a government that cleaned up a mess that a Labor government built up over 13 years and a government that has lifted our economy to one of the strongest in the world.

I think it's a truly sad day for Australia when a bunch of untried unionists get to 'run' our country.
I still remember my Dad working three jobs to keep his family and business alive through the Keating and Hawk years - getting two hours sleep a night, and barely holding it together.
I realize to most Australians, after 11 and 1/2 years of Johnny being in, they felt as if they needed change - but an inept Labor government again? A goverment run by teachers, public servents, and rock stars?
Ok, so we say Sorry to the first Australians, we get a better broadband system, children in schools get laptops - all well and good...
What happens when the powers that be can't run the countrys money? What happens when every second shop on a once busy street is up for lease, when unemployment is sky-high, when every major organization - police, education, health - are all on strike.
When the crime rate soars, and anyone from any walk of life is allowed to live here.
What then?

You have no idea. Don't listen to the ads on TV or the Union strikes. They aim to fool people our age. It's not that simple. Do you understand that small business is what drives a country and its economy? The IR Laws are in place to stop the Unions telling an owner how to run his business, that's why they hate it.

And if they law isn't so great, how can you explain unemployment rate at an all-time low? Please, don't listen to the ads and the strikes. I'm sure you're smarter then that.

I really hope Labor don't mess up this country, and I'm confident they won't, but I think it's unfortuante that where Liberal lost it was with the 18-25 rage, the people who really don't know what it was like under a Labor government.

Well, I don't know if liberal lost it in the 18-25 age group, do you have statistics to prove it? Anyway, I know people above 25 who voted labor, and they're traditionally liberal voters. And they are in the highest (tax) income bracket...and yes, they voted agaisnt liberal because of the IR laws (among other things).
