To all of you young voters who just vote for the status-quo, you will regret it when it comes time to get a real job and you find you have no rights at work.

Unions fought for years to get the conditions we have now and still the economy is strong...so why the new IR laws?! greedy stuck up know it alls who think everyday people struggling dont have any rights, all they want is more money at the expense of normal Aussies!

What about private schools?! we found out that Howard was giving most of the money to them and state schools got only a fraction! WTF? that's a perfect example of how the liberals think, they think they're better than normal Aussies like you and me! its just not on.

VOTE Labor or any other party except the Liberals.

The exit poll on whirlpool clearly shows a Labor win but.......is this a true representation of what is to come or is it more the point that it is such a beautiful day outside and only us lonely computer geeks are actually on forums today?

forums.whirlpool.net.au/

Labor 57.7%
Liberal 25.8%
Greens 11.8%
Democrats - Demowho???

i voted for Howard twice in the past, and he went back on many promises, and also there are things he's done that i don't approve on. Howard was ok during the first few years but this is the problem when you've been in power too long. He should have been voted out the last election but they were using scare tactics (as they are now) about 9-11 and terrorists. Nobody should be allowed to govern this long.

The worse thing is how the Liberals just point out bad stuff against Labor all the time. Their entire campaign is more or less based on scaring us and smearing Labor. I hate that kinda tactic, and i'm sure it has backfired against them.

I voted Labor this time. Yes, Rudd may turn his back on us one day, but we won't make the same mistake then, we'll vote him out.

The last time I checked I was a "normal Aussie" yet I couldnt think of anything worse than a union led country. Its funny how all these big companies..... the ones that make all the money, and employ thousands of people in this country are the same companies that you class as Greedy stuck up people. And how did they get to their status..... Not with the unions help. So if you ask me I want a group of people who can make this county a rich country. Not a country that expects things for free and are not willing to seek a better future.

Oh why did I buy into this.. I just had to get through today!!!!

So you would have liked to have seen Latham in there? I do realize you said you voted Liberal last time, I'm just confused with Howard should have been voted out last election part. Unless you mean change of leadership?

I don't care how long a person is in for as long as they are doing their job well.

phatbass82 said: It was funny, the last voting thing we had, I had the "One Nation" party insisting I took one of their leaflets. I told him to get stuffed (Because I am of asian herritage). lol

Actually, One Nation had supporters from all ethnic backgrounds.
A *lot* of people (far more than the left-wing media would like to acknowledge) agreed with their policies on integration and assimilation, i.e., if you come to Australia, you should fit into the Australian way of life, *not* live the same life that made your country a 3rd world, war-torn, sh*t-hole, which is why you came here in the first place!
Their point was that it's not good to have minority communities isolating themselves from the rest of society, as it creates social discord. I personally know Indians, Chinese, Vietnamese and Laotians who will not have anything to do with other Asians, because the other Asians won't assimilate.
- Look at what a lot of Chinese do: only employ other Chinese and only buy from other Chinese. Sure, they'll sell to you but there's no way in hell they'll give you any of *their* money.

And before anyone accuses me of being racist: *I'm* an immigrant.

With over half the seats that havent been finished counting having a Labour win so far, i think it's more than confirmed that Labour has won the election. Now it's just a matter of by how much. Congratulations Kevin Rudd, i can't wait to see how his Education Revolution pans out and his plans for world-class ADSL2+ broadband to be available to the entire population within 24 months of winning is a top point. I think chucking out work-choices is a bit premature and i think he should simply modify them to suit what he thinks is fair. It's a pain for the economy adopting a whole new system like work-choices then turfing it out straight away.

O well Labor win and now time for the spending, then we get put into more debt. We vote Libs back in after one or two terms of labor to fix there mistakes. Then after Libs have been there for 2 or 3 terms we say o they have been in goverment for to long and it is time for a change and go back to Labor for more spending.

It is always the same and nothing ever changes.

If the goverment was really for the people of this contry they would be working together and not trying to fight to be incharge and get there pay packets.

perhaps the people voted labor in this time in order to fix liberals mistakes?

what i don't understand is how can people not respect the vote of the country? why make such comments?

When taxes are 50% when you are in the higher income bracket, of course you are going to welcome a tax cut (under liberals). Basically, labor will screw people who work hard and earn more money.
