I reacon having the LG drive is the easiest way to rip games. I do, and it works perfectly, despite how old it is. 1hr 45 minutes for Wii and 1 hour for gamecube is about the fastest I can do it, considering the average is around 3 hours, just for Wii games!

It allows you to use a standard SD card to backup your games via the Wii. Sd card goes into the Gecko. Then You plug the Gecko into the Gamecube memory ports. Ten using the Wiikey Config disk you can backup games directly to the SD card. The Wiikey will alow you to span over sd cards as well.

It would appear the majority of people here run a wiikey. None of us have had any issues (yet of course) so at this point you would have to say its all good.
