News \ Halo movie put on hold

After much speculation from fans of both Halo, and Peter Jackson(the guy who made lord of the rings and king kong), Wingnut films put out the following comments late Monday confirming what many felt was inevitable.
"As was previously confirmed, we deeply regret that both Universal and Fox did not choose to move forward with financing the Halo film under the original terms of the agreement," it stated. "At this time Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh, along with their partner, Microsoft, have mutually agreed to postpone making a feature film based on the Halo video game universe until we can fulfill the promise we made to millions of Halo fans throughout the world that we would settle for no less than bringing a first class film to the big screen. We are fully supportive of Director Neill Blomkamp's vision of the film. Neill is a tremendously gifted filmmaker and his preliminary work on Halo is truly awe-inspiring. While it will undoubtedly take a little longer for Halo to reach the big screen, we are confident that the final feature film will be well worth the wait."

Is this post a joke? This news story, as well as the quote from Wingnut films, is almost a year old (Check the story link, published 10/30/2006). The recently released live action shorts were put together to promote Halo 3, but also to show what a live action Halo film would look like. Universal is no longer involved, and Fox seems to be the sole financeer of this picture. Whoever posted this news story has obviously been living under a rock.

lol , some games that are turned into movies are done poorly, so Fox and Universal pictures are probably thinking the same with halo unless they can conjure up a very good story line.
