When I do the running exercises, I dutifully follow the Mii pace setter, and I never advance beyond beginner. How is it possible to improve one's score while being held to a specific pace?

Every now and then a little dog will run past you yapping merrily, I'm sure you've seen it. When he appears start running faster to chase after him (the dog not the trainer) If you do it correctly you will now be following the dog instead of the mii. The dog sets a different pace and takes you on different paths around the island. There is more than one dog to follow too.

Hey, Aussies, take it easy on this superannuated geezer! I'm a Lauren Jackson/Seattle Storm fan....does that help? Anyway, I can't catch up with the Mii, much less pass it/him/her. I've read all of the info about following the dogs, but haven't yet been able to pass the pace Mii. I run in place with the remote in my right hand, pushing no buttons. I have been warned against overtaking by the program, but I'm more than willing to ignore that.

Suggestions, thoughts, brickbats, whatever....bring it on.

Anyone what does passing the dog do? I know it takes you on a different route and all that but is this better or more beneficial?

I think it's a lost cause for me...I run as fast as I can and still can't pass the pace Mii. Faster steps, longer steps, makes no difference. Thanks for trying to help.

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? (A little pun on "dog" there.)

It took awhile to percolate through this old skull, but I finally realized that the program has no idea what my feet are doing but reacts only to the remote (duh). So I put a lot of arm motion into my running and voila! I passed the pace Mii and have followed two dogs on the long run to the windmills and the lighthouse.

Lol yeah if I want to run faster than the guide, I just shake the wii remote faster so it thinks I'm jogging more.

But I didn't know about the dog, so thanks for that!! How do people actually "run".. do you run on the spot, or around in a little circuit, or what??

I run on the spot but my little niece runs closer and closer to the TV until her nose is touching the screen and then she turns as the mii turns and ends up looking at the telly over her shoulder. Very funny to watch her.

Right! Today I stood still and just waved the remote, and sure enough I made forward progress. Not planning on that for the future, of course.
