7 Other Things To Do With The WiI Balance Board
So you've got WiiFit, and you've got the balance board, and now you're fit as Vin Diesel now right? Awesome! WiiFit isn't the only game the only game that is going to be using the balance board but while we wait for that little blue compatibility logo to start showing up on game boxes, here are a few alternatives to spice up what you do with the board.
Chopping Board
It's flat, it's plastic, and it can withstand a knife, so let's get the obvious one out of the way. Take one Wii Balance Board and place it on your kitchen table, then proceed to slice and dice. With a bit of homebrew work and hauling your computer out to the kitchen perhaps it could even give you constant feedback about just how much food you're preparing. Be advised though, throwing it in the dishwasher after kitchen duty probably isn't the best move.
Gain Internet Fame
While it's become very apparent that nearly any toned ass can get a few hundred views on YouTube, if you place said toned ass on top of a much wanted product you'll become an Internet celebrity. Don't believe us? Just ask Giovanny Gutierrez, who filmed his girlfriend, Lauren Bernat, parading her booty around and then threw it up on YouTube for the whole world to enjoy. Close to 4 million views and 11,000 diggs later, with an
LA Times Article, numerous interviews and one furious girlfriend to back up the scale of it's spread, you better be ready to strip off and jump on the next Nintendo peripheral to come out. Can anyone do anything sexy with the Zapper?
Leach off Other's Internet Fame
Of course for every genuinely successful Youtube video, there's about a hundred video responses mimicking it. While chances are you won't obtain the same YouTube cred as Lauren's ass did, at least you could be known as the funky WiiFit grandfather, if only briefly.
Get Physical with World Of Warcraft
With everything Wii related quickly turning into homebrew heaven, it's no surprise that the Balance Board got the same treatment. Thanks to the folks at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence, you can now get more physical with WoW. While at the moment it's limited to surfing your Tauren Shaman around the snowy ridges of Dun Morogh, who knows, maybe in time we'll get some DDR version of those repetitive dance moves. Oh wait,
that sounds familiar!
Multidirectional Skateboard
EA's
Skate It is in the works but why stop there? Whether it be because you're too impatient for the games release or just plain want a bit more 'real' when you snap your spine skating, don't worry, the solution is here. If your bed or couch has wheels on it, strip them off, get a drill. Thanks to the boards existing number of holes on the base, it's actually pretty easy to attach some wheels. Five minutes putting in some proper threaded holes and voila, your own
xtreme skateboard! But why is this skate board so much more xtreme than the rest? Not only does it have all the standard features like forwards, backwards, and injuring yourself horribly, but you can also go side ways and
spin you right round. It probably does a
barrel roll too!
Stable Table
While this is another of the 'it's large and flat' type things, you can't help but drown in the shallow pool of irony from putting those calories straight back on using the same device you lost them with. Stable Tables are considered to be kinda lame though, but thanks to the infinite power of iPod like look of the balance board, you'll suddenly be the coolest person out of your housemates who use the inferior method of lap based plates. The men and women alike will throw themselves face down in your food just to get a little bit closer to the sleek white design of your stable table. And once again if you can be bothered hauling out your computer and running a bit of homebrew, you can be warned when your plate is unbalanced and about to spill gravy everywhere.
Dress It Up
Okay so WiiFit is not only meant to help you with fitness but it's also meant to save you time by letting you do your routine at home, right? But surely the possibilities don't stop there. Next time you're in a hurry for work why not just sort through your housemate's or families' clothes and play dress up with the Balance Board. Five minutes later you're cruising down the traffic free carpool lane with no fear of your Wii Balance Board buddy spraying his cappuccino all over your dash. As an added bonus if you get pulled over your new carpool buddy also makes a decent weapon to fight traffic cops with thanks to it's sturdy design and 150kg weight limit.
