big call - both have good and bad points as does linux.

it's like asking holden or ford. they both drive from point a to point b and they both look similar. in the past there was a huge difference. the same goes for windows, mac os and linux.

What are you basing this on? Who has done better with their products? Who is doing better on the stockmarket? Whose products break down the least? Who gives you a warm fuzzy feeling inside? Oh, opinion? Huh, I see...

Well, what's better? Purple or blue? I'm going with purple, now discuss...

I tend to prefer Apple. Everything I have used made by them are easy to use and works well. I guess it's what you grow used to using. XP bugs the hell out of me after using OS X for ages.

Never really used Apple software or O/S's. Grown up with Microsoft - XP works well enough so I have no need to use Mac stuff.

Apple are sexier though.

I've been stuck with Windows for a long time cause that's just what we had at school and then TAFE and eventually work.

I love the look and feel of Mac OS, plus the new Time Machine feature coming soon is amazingly cool they really are the masters of visual amazement and their security is awesome.

I also like linux as a half way point between the 2 but feel it's a long time off a commercial end user life because it's harder than the average point and click so it's ignorantly rejected and labeled "hard" or a "hacker's tool".

Overall I like Mac more especially when it doesn't crash on me easily like XP, but from a work/functionality XP will always reign supreme because of software programs being native to MS .

oooo oooo oooo Can I buy in on this topic?????

Hahaha! Nah you all know my stance on this. Apple all the way. 20 years of Microsoft... it was a good 20 years, one that taught me a lot.

But since moving to Apple I must say I have developed a "Warm Fuzzy Feeling" for them. and that's something I never had with Microsoft. It makes me excited to turn on my Mac. I hang on any news, Instead of wasting time fixing problems I am enjoying doing creative stuff with Photo's and movies and blogs and for me that's good.

Anyway thats my opinion. Long Live Mac!!!

Movie Maker - Sucks - Get iMovie (as much as iMovie 08 is good they have stuffed up. Use iMovie 06)

Frontpage - Yeah good but you could try Pages on the Mac. Also very good.

Also system wide spell checker, Inbuilt Dictionary. Its the little things that count I think.

iMovie has always come with iLife. Just been updated. The new one is extremely good but for some weird reason they have removed effects. BIG MISTAKE. Im sure it will get corrected because too many people are complaining. So at the moment iMovie 06 is the way to go.

Cant wait for Leopard. You can easily create your own Widgets.

And Im running Windows also on my Mac for certain business apps (specific software for work) and Windows Flies!!!

I don't think this is such a good thing. Dictionary? Great. Spell check, that easily accessible? Not so great. I mean, take a look at the spelling skillz of some of the members of this site, pretty shocking. It seems that a lot of kids just don't bother trying to actually spell correctly. Throw a spell checker at them, and now there's no need to try. Kinda like using a calculater to multiply 5 and 5, why bother learning the times tables when you have a calculater watch? But that's just me, I think spell checkers are evil...

Gii78 said: it doesn't matter if you are Purple or Blue, either way you got your arse kicked, HARD...

haha, I was a bit mean, wasn't I. Sorry I'm going Microsoft then. Not because I think they're better, or due to any fuzzy feelings, it's just what I'm used to.

It doesnt force you to use the spell checker Omi. It doesnt even automatically fix it for you. I little red line appears under the word as with any spell checker. If I right click on the word it shows me the options. I actually think this can help to spell better. I mean I can only learn how to spell by actually seeing the correct spelling and remembering it. Im 27 and am a pretty good speller I think. But every now and then I will come across a word that I dont know how to spell. In the past I would have probably diverted around the word and changed my sentence to use a different word. Now I will have a crack at it and if wrong I can check it and "learn" the correct spelling.

Now look what you have done Omi. I'm trying to Validate Apple as a learning product (mind you apple probably has the most computers in the education industry).

But anyway in here unless it is a new word I tend not to worry and just let the incorrect spelling run!! hehe.

hehe yeah, I won't disagree with you annirowe. Like I said, it's just me. I find that I learn things easier if I have to go through the process of looking it up myself. I'm more likely to remember the spelling of a word the next time if I have looked it up in a dictionary the first time I can't spell it. But that's just my brain

Apple is the industry standard for the graphics, lately I've had to try and adapt because I've been using PCs for a long time. Apple has better comercials though.

Macs are brain droolingly beauuutiful. When you can afford them. Now I'm not mega computer savvy, or perhaps just haven't spent enough time with a mac to discover the allegedly AMAZING difference it makes with the graphics programs I use. BUT. The handy thing about Microsoft I've found, is that they're easy to update gradually with bits and pieces. In the event you haven't got the moola for a brand new system, or the option of sending the whole thing away for a upgrade.

So despite the fact my eye's glaze when I see a mac, I think I'm gonna stick with a PC for a long while to come. 95% of the time I'll take apparent practicality over Snazzy-factor.

Despite that I do hate microsoft though. I'm not a big fan of anything that goes "OMFGERROR!!" at me. I've even called my Wii bad names on occasion.

Come on. You know. You just know, deep down, under all the awesome and the hype, they are all poohags, and secretly after your feet.

At this point October is the month. Still no confirmed date. But im counting down the days!

Speaking of counting the days down. Overnight Apple will be releasing their new iPods. Touch Screen? Wifi? And also the new Nano's (with Video!!).

Im excited!

At some point your budget will allow the purchase of a mac. What do you do then? Do you go and spend you $1600 dollars on another PC that is gonna date very quickly, be riddled with problems and virus', and be a constant avenue of stress. Or do you spend the $1600....and enjoy life. Mind you my MacbookPro came in just under $5000 and im still in shock I so easily spent so much....but forgetting the money its the best damn system I have ever bought, And I will soon go in even deeper and buy an iMac..
