Social \ which is better microsoft or apple?

Alright Im back to defend myself!!!! hahaha! Nah you guys know me. Im all up for an open discussion!

Anyway Good comparison Phat. Yeah the Gui itself looks very similar through the ages, But just because Im a tech head doesnt mean im not an everyday user as well. Mac is completely new to me. And I have never touched Unix before so Im just like the next bloke who picked up a Mac for the first time. I think people have problems when converting because of one simple flaw of their own mentality..... they expect it to act the same as Windows.

Naturally it isnt. And people who dont take a stand back and look at the situation will get bogged down.

Now for the interface not changing it is quite easy to see that the desktop hasnt changed, and the dock looks nearly identical to when it started. But Neither has windows. It still holds the same theory as always. Start button on the left, clock on the right. As much as you change the colours and the shape its still similar. But look into the programs that come bundled. And look how they have progressed. Look at iPhoto 08 and tell me that it hasnt progressed. Look at Mail and the future of mail. Address book, iCal. These things have been around for a few years now...MS only put them in now!

And as for it not being an everyday PC I would love to know why it isnt? I am only still shackled to Windows because of 1 program. A finance package designed for my industry. Thats it. If I didnt have that

But honestly Im happy to have a discussion with someone who has been using computers for as long as I have (and there are a few on here). C64, MS DOS, etc. Because you and I have seen Windows developed and loved it. But for the 12 yo's who wanna argue with me... well you probably havent quite used them long enough to have a full valid comment.

I think what you would find if you could run OSX on components that you assembled from scratch, that the market share would be changed completely because Apple offers a far more complete OS straight out of the box...

But that opens another can of worms. Would the system run as good...thats what sets Apple apart. Because they control all facits of their systems, they can ensure that it runs perfectly (well most of the time).

That's another point I was making in another of these awful threads. Extendability.

I can stick a new CPU or graphics card into my Mobo with an IBM-compatible, but I'd have to buy a new Mac entirely to change something big.

I've used both Mac and PC. And after using a Mac, I would never willingly go back to a PC. Why? Because unlike any PC I've used my Mac just works. No problems.

Was it a little strange at first to use, having used a PC (Windows) for a long time - yes, but once I got used to it, it felt more natural than a PC ever did.

If you have never taken the time to use a mac, don't say it is crap because once you get used to everything, you will find it superior to pc in almost every aspect.

been a windows user for so long, got sick of all the bull**** i had to do to get some bull**** programs working, so i decided to get a mac.
