Desi: If you buy a Mac why would you want to upgrade it... A 7 yo Mac can still run todays Apps.... As for direct X Desi you need Vista for that. So just use Parallels or for a more seamless approach use Bootcamp. But like I said no matter what you need Vista.

(Phatbass82) I noticed you guys talking about coming from C64 days. I did as well.

In grade 4 I was in charge of starting up 10 C64 computers everyday for class, and running the various programs.

DOS and Windows 3.1 was where I really took off with my expertise. I liked those days. Although I do much rather it now...

NOTE: It's phatbass82 here, for those confused. I'm using my girlfriend's account because i'm too lazy to sign in as myself...

sure if you wanna use your macs for games.
personally i wouldn't play games on a macbook, thats what desktops are for.

I got myers to give me 10% off the 1899$ macbook

they dont usually do it but they gave it to me for 10% off + 6 month interest free. win win for me

You can get the base Macbook for $1599. everything included and looks hot. Screen is perfect on it. Or you can go he complete opposite way and get a MacbookPro. Mine was just under $5000 (ouch).

Well worth it but!

there's always gonna be a big debate about apple and PC in the end they both can do the same things (PC just a few more when it comes to games and more accessible - Pirate programs )
But in the end it's really up to what the user likes and chooses.

I for one recon that is crap what people say about it being better for graphic design lol.

I myself do graphic design and don't find it better or worse than using the PC, besides the keys being arranged differently.

Thing is Apple is good at creating ads that makes people beleive theyre products are cooler, sleekier and better than others... there for.... "the brainwash method works" I don't blame apple good for them... if this works then good on em

I myself have a PC at home and work with a Mac at work so i have of both worlds

Out of interest, what's the deal with running Shader Model 3 or DirectX 10 games on a Mac?

I like PC's because I have the whole gaming thing goin

the thing I like about PC's is if you buy a mac, you can get the same thing in PC form for alot cheaper. also, with PC's you can upgrade easily, with a mac, you have to buy an entire new system

Where did I double-post? I did state this question last page, but it wasn't answered so I deleted it and restated it. Lost eight kudos out of it (not that it matters). I asked because I wanted to know about hardware compatibility and such, if running Windows on a Mac would allow you to somehow use that hardware.

While on the subject, I have Bioshock, but it lags like hell. My comp is pretty top of the range, but I only have Windows XP, and I can't get DirectX 10 cause of some "genuine windows" bull****. Anyway, I'm just wondering what the deal is there?
Would I need vista and DirectX 10, or what?

Lags like hell?

DirectX 10 only gives you effects like dynamic water ripples and soft shadows and stuff like that. Nothing to do with performance. I'm running on WinXP with 2.41Ghz single core, 2GB RAM and 512MB overclocked 7900GS, and it runs very well.

Specs please. Sounds to me like you're running applications in the background.

Erm... That may be a problem. I don't know...
Anyway to find out?

Although I do know this much: I have 4GB RAM and a WinFast PX6600 GT Video card.

Also, thanks for clearing up what directX 10 did, cause I seriously had no idea.

No wonder! Your video card is a bit on the old side. You have eight pixel pipelines and three vertex processors. I have twenty and seven respectively, plus basically double or more of everything else. Lower your graphical settings and make sure that all unnecessary programs are not running.

As for DX10's effect on Bioshock, it tells you in the manual.
