Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k are table-top turn-based strategy games, just like a turn-based RTS on a PC, but you use real-life models with dozens of rules. If you've played Dawn Of War, then you've already seen most of the races cause thats whats it's based from. The difference is that Warhammer 40k is set in the year 40,000 where a dozen different races inhabit the same galaxy trying to destroy each other. Warhammer Fantasy is very similar, only it's set thousands of years ago with people wielding bows and magic. It's a VERY fun game to play, highly addictive but can be costly. The starter box set (with rule book) and your race-specific book (called a codex) will set you back about $120. By the time you write up a 2000 point army (most battles are with armies 2000 points or less, the game is balanced by certain troops/vehicles costing certain points), buy the models, put them together and paint them, plus the cost of the starter box/codex, $800 will cover it easily. Obviously then you can use your army as often as you like. If you want variety by trying different combinations of troops/vehicles, like altering between ad assaulting army or a shooty army, add another $200 max. I would rather spend $1000 on a Warhammer 40k army than a PS3.
