SSBB Super Review - 10/10

Introduction
Super Smash Brothers Brawl (for those of you who don't know), is a game where you beat up various characters from Nintendo franchises - along with a few characters from Second and Third Parties.
For gamers still debating whether to buy the game, this reviewer will hopefully give your mind a definite answer. The aspects of the game I will be looking at are Gameplay, Graphics, Sound - and the Lasting Appeal of the game.

Gameplay

Solo
When gamers say things like 'This is just Melee with shinier menus!', they obviously haven't played every game mode. The most obvious addition is the Sub-Space Emissary. It's a game mode with a side-scrolling storyline which gets you totally immersed with the game's characters. The SSE would take a good four hours to finish, even if you just ran through every level, and not exploring. If you do however explore and take that extra time, you can collect bonus sticks and trophies which can be used to aid you through the game.
Classic Mode also returns in Brawl! And it’s just like it used to be, but – better! (I think) Classic is just the beat-em-up mode, where you gradually progress through various battles until you make it to the ‘Master Hand’. Then you just kick his ass! End of story, or should I say – mode.
Along with the SSE and Classic modes, there's also the Stadium, where you can try to do various challenges like the classic 'Break the Targets', along with other mini games such as 'Home Run Contest' - where you hit a sandbag as far as you can with a baseball bat.
The Events mode is jam-packed with sixty-two challenges with predetermined conditions. The tasks range from defeating opponents - to reaching a goal. The difficulty can be changed on each challenge, so even people with a low-skill level can complete the higher - percentage of the mode without too much hassle.
Training is the final game mode. It's basically a mode where you can change any variable you want about the computer player you are versing, and the items that appear. It's a good way for newbies to the game to get used to the controls. It's also a good way to burn off some steam if you're cranky. Summoning a smash-ball over, and over again can be quite the stress reliever.

Multiplayer
The multiplayer modes of the game, are in my opinion, the strongest aspects of the game. There's nothin' more fun than gathering around with a few friends to play a game of Brawl. There's many ways to customize the Brawlin' as well, such as special game modes (who wouldn't want to have a Heavy Bunny Curry Slow Motion Brawl)? There's also the option to customize the type of game to play - timed or stocked. The items are also heavily customizable to suit your – er - mood.
With the technical advancement of the Wii console, the game also includes WiFi play! Now you can play against all types of crazy foreigners! And the best part is, no one knows who you are (unless your WiFi-ing with friends), so there's no loss to your credibility and/or self-esteem. The only, meaning - THE ONLY, nag about the game would be the unavoidable lag when playing online. In a four person brawl, a two-minute match can take up to five-minutes to finish if one of the players is on dial-up.

Graphics
Even though the Wii has a library of (excuse my language) crap games with crap graphics - which could probably be processed the Gamecube, SSBB is one of the few games that actually push the Wii's graphics engine to the limit. Not only are the characters models flawless, but the immersive backgrounds are enough to keep you engaged. Even the Assist Trophies and Pokemanz (yes, I spell it like that) are impressively designed. During the brawling, the flashy-effects of items just add to the prettiness! Just looking at those final smash animations makes me wanna smile and giggle girlishly!

Sound
Brawl has the most' dynamic soundtrack' of any Nintendo game published to date. There are over three-hundred tunes stuffed into this (as cliché as it may sound) bundle-o'-joy! But Ninty didn't just rip all the games music straight off their existing library, they wrote some brand new ones, and revamped a bunch of ol' classics - WIN WIN! Ninty, being the clever-cats they are, locked away a percentage of the tunes - that can only be unlocked by collecting the CD item in battles! Some say this was a foolish move, but I say otherwise! There's nothing more mesmerising then listening to some classics after a Brawl.

Lasting Appeal
After finishing the main storyline, some say the game loses its appeal. WRONG! The game just gets better! If you haven't gained all the characters, there's another goal to complete! Then you have events! Then you have break the targets! Then you have the 'cruel brawl' setting! Then you have all those things I listed on each difficulty setting! Then you have those parties with your friends - where you all sit around, eat pizza, and Brawl until the grease on the pizza causes one of your mates to make his remote slip and knock you out! Then you have the next morning, where you clean up your trashed lounge room! (That's alot of un-neccisary exclamation marks)! But yes, Brawl has it's lasting appeal pretty down-pat.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl is one of those titles, that if you don't own it, you want it really bad. It's one of the best titles ever produced for the Wii. I hope my review has helped those who were still a little hesitant about buying the game, to run straight to the nearest EBGames - price match with Target, and run home with a great-big-goofy-smile.

Well - this comes to the conclusion of my review. I know I was a bit late reviewing this game, but I hope my effort wasn't wasted. Once again, I hope you enjoyed reading it, and I would really appreciate it if you say 'This is Cool'.
