Mario Strikers Charged - 9/10
I've been waiting for this title for a looong time, and finally my copy has arrived from Europe.
Straight out of the box, it is a great game. It looks well made, especially the intro.
When you enter the main menu screen you will see 7 icons. These are all the different game-types that are included.
They include;
- Domination Mode
The mode where 2 teams battle against each other to see who is best.
- Road to the Striker Cup
This is the main 'career' mode, where you select a team and you go against other teams for glory.
- Challenge Mode
The mode where you get certain challenges to complete, they range from novice to megastriker.
- Hall of Fame
Where you can see all your trophies, statistics and progress.
- Options
Pretty much straight forward.
- Strikers ABC
Where I recommend you start, it teaches you all the basics with 10 different 'challenges'.
- Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection
The best option on the menu. It works like this. You click the icon where you select and choose which Mii will be sent to the giant world of cyberspace!
You will then login and grab statistics. Then you will be the Nintendo WFC Central. Where you will be able to see how many friends of yours are online and how long until the end of the season. You will also see a fair few other things, such as your Mii on the left hand side. Showing you how many points you won today, and your season rank. On the right hand side you will see the Striker of the Day, basically this means who ever got the most points during the day, will be featured on everyones main page.
Underneath all of this there is 4 different options,
Which include
- Friendly
- Ranked
- Friend Roster
- Leaderboard
To have a friendly match you must have added other plays to your Friend Roster using Nintendo's 12-digit friend code system. Friendly lets you set up any options you like to vs against your mates. You will not recieve points for winning in these matches.
Ranked matches are the games where you can win points, which leads to your Season Rank and who the best striker of the day is. The games are a best of 3, meaning you have to win at least twice.
The points system works as such;
10 points for victory.
1 point for defeat
1 point for every goal you score.
Leaderboard is the option where you can see the daily season rankings, the season rankings and your friends rankings.
I received this game the second day after it came out, shipped out from Europe I was sure to get it earlier then everyone else.
This game is GREAT, one of my favourite 2 games for the Nintendo Wii. Using the Wii Controller to much wouldn't work for this game, but for what its used for its enough. The game it self doesn't need anything else.
It's sort of based on soccer, where the objective is to score goals etc. But its got a much more fun feel to it rather then say a FIFA Game. You have 12 Mario characters to choose from as a captain, which all have their own statistics, which gives the game a more tactical feel. They each have their own special move.
Alongside of that, you can also choose 3 side-kicks, who also play in the game and they are the characters in Mario games, such as Boo, Hammer Brothers, Koopa and Dry Bones. They also have their own specific special moves which you can use to score. You can use them in any combination you like.
The games I've had online so far have been good, a few 'laggy' matches, but the rest have been fine.
The game works really well, and it's sure worth your money. If you have any more questions or would like to know something specific, don't be afraid to private message me on "supA".
The pro's:
The control scheme works
Excellent fun
Lot's of characters to choose from
Lot's of modes to choose from
The con's:
Sometimes you will get a laggy online match
You need a Wireless Router to play online (or a Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Adapter)
Controls - 8/10
Gameplay - 10/10
Graphics - 9/10
I give it a 9/10.
Hope you enjoyed my over-view/review.
