For someone your age, it's best to have a healthy diet and regular exercise, if you want to shape go for regular runs around your local oval(less impact on your joints) and just do the basic body resistance exercises:
-Push ups
-Sit ups
-Dips
-Pull ups(hands facing forwards)
-Pull ups(hands facing backwards)
That should get you into shape, get into man you feel great.

Also some light dumbells can make a difference.
Use a low weight (2-5kg) unless you want to bulk up and there are heaps of guides on the net for what to do.

Yeah, this is a good workout. You have to focus on Aerobic exercises to tone your body. I had to go the other way for Rugby Union, bulk up big time! I had to hitup the heavy weights and the rest of it.

Bench press is a start. Rowing weights (I can't remember what it's called). In your case, you have to focus on heavy weights. Maybe some protein shakes as well.

Yep,
as long as your body has pretty much stop growing you can start going hard with heave weights, for chest there's heaps of exercises you can do, but bench press is one of the best, find some one to spot you on bench so you can go even further, also break the routine up periodically by doing different chest exercises, dumbbell bench press, dumbbell flys, also do incline bench press to target the pectoral minor(upper chest).
If you train your Biceps intensely enough your fore arms should just develop on their own but doing some wrist curs helps or even try crushing a tennis ball.
Don't just focus on your upper body alone work on your legs as well, it pays to have a good foundation when training and your body will look more proportioned and as Phatbass mentioned PROTIEN!! get that stuff in ya, it's muscle food and don't forget to stretch and warm up before each training sessions.

A bench press is where you lie on your back and push weight straight up. It works the same muscles as doing a push up, so if you dont have access to weights, push ups are the way to go.

As for losing weight, you need to do aerobic exercise, that means doing continuous exercise for at least 20 mins non stop, preferably 30mins plus. easiest is jogging, you need to get your heart rate up to get the benifits, and you want to aim to be working hard enough so that you can just talk, but are too puffed to whistle or sing. If your not fit enough to jog for 30 mins, its not a problem, just jog and walk and jog and walk, as long as you are keeping urself fairly puffed.

weight balance is all about energy intake (food you eat) vs energy use (how much exercise you do), however building muscle can increase your energy use because muscles use more energy at rest then other tissues, but really you want to focus on aerobic ex like jogging.

For chest/arms, push ups really are the best exercise. How many can you do? you can make them easier by doin inclined push ups on a bench or table with your feet on the ground, or you can make it harder by putting a bit of weight over your shoulder blades, just dont put it lower down then shoulder blades or you will hurt your back. Also execive sit ups dont do much for you other then strain your back, and build a six pack that no one will see because of hte tissue over the top. everyone has a six back, its just not usually v

push ups/ bench press for chest. for forearms, chin ups with hands facing away from you for forearm, and guyver suggested some great ones, gripping something, biceps will do forearms as well, wrist curls, and can also do palm down lifting the wrist back to do the back/outside of your forearms.

As phat bass was saying, to bulk up you want to keep your reps down, so about 8-12, you should do ur weights in such a way that when u hit 8-12 your feel like you wouldnt be able to do anymore. and as well as getting a good protein intake, you also need to make sure that you are getting a lot of carbohydrates, which means eating lots of good foods. otherwise your protein intake will just be used as energy rather then making new muscle tissue.

hope that helps, sorry for double post, my first word limit hit

um, has anyone mentioned diet? o.k. I'm pretty skinny, but I do have a gut (or did) and had a flabby chest. But because of a health concern recently I've decided to take my diet seriously, and the change has been phenomenal. I did not start up this diet as a way of losing weight, just as a way of becoming healthier, and it has worked a treat. Basically, I've increased the amount of fruit and vegetables (fresh foods) that I eat, and decreased the amount of processed foods I eat (especially chips as they have saturated fat). You need to build a diet around fruit and vegetables, like I eat between 10-16 fruit and vegs throughout the day (excluding dinner), and do some mild exercise on the exercise bike (like only burn 150 - 250 calories in 30-40mins, but I do it in 2 15-20min sessions).
anyway, the best advice I can give you is to check out this site, and base your diet around those foods, and primarily from the fruit and vegs section. www.whfoods.com/
and also, it's not so much about a 'diet' but a lifestyle change. If you want to become healthier, and maintain your level of fitness/health, it has to be ongoing and not some fad. And also make sure you add musili (with lots of nuts and dried fruit) for breakfast, and make sure to add low-fat yoghurt (like nestle diet) as a snack somewhere during the day.

Hey, this thread is really cool
i have love for exercise (LOL) and working out and fitness etc. The best thing that helped me, was doing what YOUR doing now! talking on a forum. It's great for getting knowledge from everyone.
However, what i learnt (the hard way), is believing everything, that everyone says. The best thing i reccomend is going round to heaps of websites (google is your friend) and looking up things about building muscle, loosing weight, toning, healthy diets...etc
I have some advice for you too, cause i've done a lot of research on the subject, in my own attempt to get FIT and HEALTHY!!!! (yay..applause..)....or not
anyway. Heres some stuff
firstly, always focus 60% + of your time, working out what you eat and how bad it is (i dont mean calorie count, neccessarily, or being stupid) but seeing what you eat, like chips, coke, cake, lollies...that sorta stuff.. They all have to be EXTREMELY moderated. Not gone completely, (unless you can handle that), but moderated to maybe 1 can of coke a week...or something like that (i wouldnt know, cause i just gave them the flick, completely).
Next thing, is once you have figured out your diet, is to focus on your workouts and exercise.
you want too loose a bitta tummy fat and show that awesome 6 pack im sure you've built, from all those sit ups?
