Social \ How do you feel about HD-DVD finally dying for good?

Now that Toshiba themselves (co-creators of the HD-DVD) have ditched the format and Wal-Mart have backed Blu-Ray exclusivly, how do you all feel about it. Do any of you feel ripped off having bought a HD-DVD player, anyone here own a Ps3 and are happy about it, or are you like me and believe that a 1080p upscaling DVD player is the only way to go for now if you want HD Movies.

To me it always looked like Blu-Ray was going to win, simply by looking @ the PS3 (Blu-Ray built in) & Xbox 360 (HD-DVD drive optional).

Although my opinion may be slightly biased as I will have a PS3 in a week or so.

Blu-Ray does sound so much "cooler" than HD-DVD. Especially considering there was not much difference between the both that I know of anyway.

I have a 360 and not a PS3 (was going to get the HD-DVD Player, 360 might even have a Blu-Ray player coming anyway) so I am not bias, I don't think your view is bias either.

No point having both on the market. Blu-Ray may be no better than HD-DVD, but it's also no worse. Im getting a Ps3 mid-year for the excellent exclusive Ps3 games coming soon and the 1080p upscaling dvd playback. Highly unlikely i will support actual Blu-Ray movies ever, upscaled DVD looks almost as good for now and i dont wanna replace my huge legit dvd collection.

M$ have said they will make a Blu-Ray add-on if HD-DVD dies so i would expect some sort of announcement at the GDC.

I honestly don't see this as being a big enough shift. DVD was introducing interactivity, not having to rewind the goddamn thing!

I see blu-ray as... one bloody expensive player, and one BLOODY expensive TV to run it on, for some better picture even though the current one is good enough

Sit down & watch Planet Earth on blu-ray then watch it on DVD & tell me theres no difference. Personally I can understand people not wanting to go HD yet, the only reason I did was because I already got the PS3 & I wanted a new TV & there was some good deals going on for full HD tv's, but it will be natural progression in the next 5 years, DVD's will eventually be taken over by blu-ray.
