Pit
This is the protagonist in the game Kid Icarus. Pit's Sacred Bow of Palutena is actually two single blades combined into one. He can separate them or unite them at will for whatever he may need the for in battle. The arrows that Pit's bow launches shoot out like they are beams of light. People playing as Pit can control how the arrow curves.
Standard Special Move: Pit draws back his arrow about to fire a deadly blow. You can steer the arrow up and down to control where it goes, but it does travel very fast, so be careful.
Up Special Move: If Pit is falling to his death, not all hope is lost. The Wings of Icarus will then allow Pit to fly smoothly through the sky. But remember, Pit cannot normally fly, so it is only a matter of time before he comes down again.
FINAL SMASH! (Palutena’s Army): Pit is the captain of Palutena’s Army, and they are the guardians of the Goddess of Light. Legend has it that he decides to raise his voice to the heavens, a goddess will appear! The goddess is very big! But she also brings along her flying centurions!...
Attack! They divebomb at incredible speeds! It will be very hard to avoid a charge of Centurions, because they just move so fast! Although they can only attack once, so you might get lucky.
This is a LONG time Nintendo character that is finally making an appearance in the game. It is rumoured that Wario will bring a new form of martial arts to the game of Smash Brothers.
Side Special Move: Wario’s side special move is the Wario Chopper. He jumps on and starts racing!. Tilt the Control Stick in the opposite direction of which you are driving to pull a 180 degree turn. Press any attack button and Wario will get off. Only 1 Motorcycle will appear, so if you fall, go find it and hop back on.
Down Special Move: Wario's Down Special move is called the Wario Watf. That is to say, he passes gas. With this, the longer you hold it in, the more powerful it will become. If you don't hold it in, it won't be very exciting at all, patience is the key here.
Once Samus has had her Varia suit destroyed, she’s left with the Zero Suit. She may have lost her powers and her heavy weaponery, but she now has speed and stamina! Once she turns that Paralyzer in her hand into a whip, she has a very amazing reach with it as well! Don't underestimate her, remember, she is still that bounty hunter!.
Standard Special Move:Paralyzer! The paralyzer acts as a paralyzer. The more you charge it up, the more chances you will be able to land attacks on opponents. However, it is only a self-defence move, and does not do any damage.
Side Special Move: A flash is all you have time for to react to such a high damage rate attack.
Up Special Move: A great recovery technique. It's used to grab onto ledges, and opponents from far distances.
Ike is from the game Fire Emblem, which is on Wii! The fact that he can wield a two-handed sword with a single hand is truly amazing ability which is sure to scare off some foreign fighters! He brings some new tricks, such as his special move (below) to the world of Brawl, this character is sure to strike a painfull punch!.
Up Special Move: Ike's Up special move is Called "Aether", the same name as the planet in Metroid Prime 2. The first part of this move is him throwing his sword up into the air, he jumps up, quickly catches it, then comes back down and slices his enemy into the ground causing high amounts of damage. And! It also makes him slightly invincible just as he finishes his move for a short amount of time.
Standard Special Move: This move is called Eruption, and causes a lot of damage! Not much information on this, but you can charge it up to cause even more amounts of damage..
All the Pokemon fans will sleep better tonight, knowing that the Pokemon Trainer is now in the game, but what's this? he doesn't fight! The pokemon fight for him! Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard do all the fighting for him.
Squirtle's Special Moves
- Up Special Move: Waterfall! Squirtle splashes himself up in the air by a wave of water!
- Side Special Move: Withdraw! Squirtle Slides along the ground in his own shell!
Ivysaur's Special Moves
- Standard Special Move: Bullet Seed! Ivysaur shoots a streem of painfull seeds straight in the air!
- Up Special Move: Vine Whip! It saves it's behind by grabbing the edge of the stadium with it's vine!
Charizard's Special Moves
- Standard Special Move: A flamethrower! What did you expect, it just had to be in there!
- Side Special Move: Rock Smash! Charizard hits a giant rock with his head, wouldn't wanna get his by this one!
Down Special Move (Pokemon Change): Since the trainer does not fight directly, he chooses which of the pokemon fight for him, and you have 3 pokemon to choose from, so he has to change the pokemonNo way! The Pokémon Trainer has finally arrived. And it looks like he doesn’t do his fighting directly. This is the order it swaps pokemon in... Squirtle - Ivysaur - Charizard and back to Squirtle.
FINAL SMASH! (Triple Finish): Any of the Pokemon can get the final smash, but then all of them come out! This move really causes a lot of damage, and the 3 pokemon all doing it at the same time too! Squirtle = Hydro Pump | Ivysaur = SolarBeam | Charizard = Fire Blast.
Diddky Kong, a old player from the Donkey Kong saga, finally makes his way into Brawl, maybe not the strongest Brawlee out there, but he has some handy tricks up his sleeve. Do not treat him like a stupid creature, as he will prove you wrong!.
Standard Special Move: Peanut Popgun! It shoots out peanuts at different speeds by how long you charge it for, but don'y charge it for too long, it will explode in your own face! Also, if it smashes, a peanut pops out which you can eat and it will regain your health!
Up Special Move: Rocketbarrel Boost, what could be better then being propelled by 2 giant barrels acting as rockets, you can even control which direction you fly! BUT, if you get attack while flying with these you will go flying into the ground along with your rockets going in a random direction! Watch out!
FINAL SMASH! (Rocketbarrel Barrage): The Peanut Popgun is what is used here, and Diddy holds it in both hands. It is almost like both of his Special Moves being joined together! He flies around harming everything he can find until once he finally stops, peanuts have fallen out. You can eat the peanuts to gain health too!
Meta Knight is the rival of Kirby. Even though he looks like a small ball that could not do much, this guy has awesome abilities, one of the coolest swords you will ever see as well as he can fly which most characters can't do!.
Most likely the most anticipated character from all of the newcomers to Brawl, Snake offers such action with his weapons, sleekness, and pure skill when it comes to fighting!.
Side Special Move: Remote Missile! The missle is called 'Nikita', controlled by Snake himself, after you shoot it, you can control where it goes! But it does leave yourself wide open for attack, so be careful. Press sheild to get of it in a rush.
Standard Special Move: The Hand Grenade! After pressing the special button, you will pull a grenade out but you only have a few seconds before it explodes in your face, so remember to get rid of it. You control how far it goes by pressing forward, nothing, or back.
Up Special Move: Cypher! What happens when Snake is falling to his death? He pulls out his flying reconnaissance camera of course! This will keep him alive, Snake will use anything he needs to to keep alive!
Another Character with amazing powers, physic ones at that. This is his return after playing in a Japanese only game called Mother 3. Could his amazing physic powers be greater then that or Ness!
The rumours can officially be put to rest. The speedy hedgehog has joined the fray! Sonic has been confirmed as a playable character! With his awesome speed and cunning looks, some Sonic fans will sleep well tonight!
Side Special Move: Spin Dash! Charge up the supersonic spin dash! If you charge it correctly, your speed will increase. Also you can rise up while spinning, that'll show 'em!
Down Special Move: Spin Charge! By holding the Control Stick down and tapping the special-move button, you charge up your spin and do a Spin Dash!
Up Special Move: Spring Jump! Besides turning into a bright blue ball, Sonic has the ability to have a spring from the ground. Jump on it and you'll go soaring way up in the air! There has been rumors that you may not be the only one who can use the spring as once you use it, it may stay there for awhile!
Mario
It's-a-me, Mario! What is there to say about this amazing character, he has been the face of video gaming for several years now and is in Brawl, with his awesome skills of speed and strength, he sets a new standard for balanced players!
Down Special Move: F.L.U.D.D! Yes, it appears Mario is back with the water squirting machine, but this time Mario can charge it up! It does not do any damage to the opponent, although it does send them flying, it would be very handy to have. You can even charge it while you have your sheild up! Don't worry, his Mario Tornado move is still there!
FINAL SMASH! (Mario Finale): One of the most devastating moves you will ever see! Once Mario gets his Smash Ball, watch out! For the most damage stand on the left or right hand side in mid-air. This will hurt a lot of people, just look at the picture in the middle!
Link! The hero in the Zelda games, the link in Brawl is based off the Link in Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii, and Link is back with all his trademark moves and maybe some new ones to show people that he really can Brawl!
Side Special Move: Gale Boomerang! The Gale boomerang cause damage, and also lightly pulls the enemies body on the way back!
Standard Special Move: Hero’s Bow! A simple move Link does where he charges up his bow, the longer, the more damage inflicted!
Down Special Move: Bomb! What would Link be today without his bombs on him? Oh well, just don't stand in Link's road when he's throwing!
Up Special Move: Spin Attack! Just like Melee in this game link can do a spin attack to not only save himself but hurt enemies, you can charge this too!
Grab: Clawshot! This is great for pulling in enemies to hurt them, but it can be also launched at the edge as a tether to save your own life!
FINAL SMASH! (Triforce Slash): When Link gets a smash ball, he really gets going, the Tri-force traps you and you get inflicted with a lot of damage! You shoot out the Tri-force, it traps enemies, you then attack them and finish them with one final striking blow!
Kirby, the Nice pink ball of cuteness, said to be one of the few characters in Brawl that have barely changed, he can still suck up enemies and use their powers against them. He still has all of his old moves so watch out!
FINAL SMASH! (Cook Kirby):Kirby is quite the glutton. He apparently even does his own cooking. Welcome to Kirby’s cooking class! Haha Kirby looks even cuter with his chef hat! Kirby throws it's enemies into the pot, and the pot then keeps spitting out awesome items until the enemies are no longer needed and get spat back out.
Another one of those generally balanced characters, Pikachu, one of maybe the most farmiliar pokemon in the game, is back for Brawl with the same moves and a lot more with him. But how could you hurt such a cute yellow thing.
FINAL SMASH! (Volt Tackle): Once you grab the Smash ball, Pikachu will turn into a ball of light and start to bounce around the whole level, attacking everything in it's path, but be careful, if it stops while you are over the edge, you may face some more danger!
Fox is one of the fastest characcters in the whole of Brawl, just like usual, this time he has a completely updated set of clothing on, to keep modern. He has the fighting spirit in him.
Down Special Move: Reflector! What could be better then something that you pull out that not only hurts enemies but reflects any incoming flying objects. Well, nothing, this move will always come in handy.
Standard Special Move: Blaster! Just like in the older games, Fox's blaster does not throw enemies backwards, it merely ups their percentage, but it has a very rapid fire.
FINAL SMASH! (Landmaster): It’s the brute tank of Team Star Fox—the Landmaster. Surely he wouldn’t bring that thing out?! Jump to hover, tilt down to roll, and don't forget the best off all, fire its cannon with the attack button. Since it's so big it must be hard to turn around, but it’s law-breaking power and authority is unstoppable!
Samus Aran from the Metroid Series, a bounty hunter, and one of the most fierce people in the galaxy. She is also a girl! Her arm cannon is full of tonnes of cool powers that will be hard to master, but once you get it, you will be unstoppable!
FINAL SMASH! (Zero Laser): When Samus gets the smash ball, all hell breaks loose as she charges one of the most powerful attacks in the whole of Smash Bros. Watch out! It's so powerful that afterwoulds her suit falls off, and then you can throw her suit around as projectiles against other enemies!
Zelda's design has also changed slightly too, looking much better as well. She may not be the strongest, nor faster player of Brawl, but she has amazing abilities when it comes to using magical powers, just stay out of the way if her hands are glowing!
Bowser is most likely the most violent and largest, strongest character in Brawl, he is much slower though, so everything evens out, although I wouldn't want to be too close to this thing, he could KO you without trying!
FINAL SMASH! (Giga Bowser Transformation): And you used to think Bowser was always in a foul mood, until you saw what he can turn into! He can only be this for a short amount of time, but while he is in Giga Bowser mode he is almost impossible to hit, and it won't do much, if any damage to him. Be careful!
One of the oldest Nintendo characters around, and it's not a suprise, such a fierce animal should have survived this whole time, a pure fact not to mess with him! He is strong, and somewhat fast as well, not as slow as Bowser, another heavy character.
FINAL SMASH! (Konga Beat): Such a strong character, playing music, who cares! It sounds cool. This move will hurt anyone around it, on top of that Donkey Kong! But he better be careful, because even though he is invincible during this time, if the level decides to shift, your in trouble!
Yoshi is back! This time faster then usual, with more attacks, greater techniques, awesome abilities, what could be better, his new egg move even sends him flying higher in the air then before, and how could you not love him!
FINAL SMASH! (Super Dragon): Yoshi is such a nice character, and even when he does his final smash he still does it with elegance, he simply grows beautiful white wings that allow him to fly, then he can breathe out fire as well as shoot fire balls at people! But this thing doesn't last forever, so be careful!
The beloved Peach, such a sweet soul, but don't underestimate her, watch your back or you will find yourself falling off the level! With her umbrella and her library of skills up her arm, she will never need Mario to rescue her again.
FINAL SMASH! (Peach Blossom): When Peach does this a strange frame seems to appear around the screen and everyone on the screen that is an enemy seems to get drowsy until they fall dead asleep! Once they are asleep lots of Peaches fall from the sky and at this point you can choose between sending your opponents flying or eating the peaches to gain health!
The one in blue is Popo. The one in pink is Nana. And the two of them get along great! ...I think. These two move as a pair, with Nana automatically following along. There’s safety in numbers—protect and be protected!
Battlefield
This would have to be the 'plain' type of level, something that offers a much simpler and more fighting type of level, with less obsticles, and just 3 platforms throughout the whole place. This level itself does not change, but the seasons inside it do, from morning, to night, etc etc. This is more for just people who want to get right into it without having to put up with a level contstantly on the move.
The beautiful level from Mario Sunshine on the Gamecube, Delfino Plaza. This level may have less obsticles then most, but it does have an extra feature, a platform comes up every now and again and takes you to a new part of the plaza, talk about free tourism! With great sites of a beautiful town, and the sites repeating itself, who ever said you can't enjoy yourself while killing eachother!
This level is in Nature, the whole level itself tilts from left to right even sometimes, if you knock someone off they edge they may be lucky enough to be caught by a ghost! Even little Shy Guys like to float past as nice scenery, and like Battlefield this one has level seasons that change too, from Winter, to Summer. It looks quite amazing!
In the Lylat System there is lots of things going on, ships fighting eachother, lasers flying from every direction thought possible, but there lies one thing in the thick of it all, Lylat Cruise, a single ship flying through space with you on it, from Meteor Showers on the ship itself! You also get to enter the planets Atmosphere, who cares how you are playing without spacesuits, as long as it's fun!
Wow, another feature from Twilight Princess on Wii, the Bridge of Eldin looks to be one of the most flat levels out there, every now and again a guy on a giant animal will come along and blow up a whole in the bridge, making it harder for you, but fear not, just like the real game a portal comes and teleports the piece of bridge to the bridge again, fixing it!
Yes, this level is from the game Animal Crossing. It even has the cahracters from it! One of the coolest features is that what time you are playing effects what is going on in the background, so if you are playing at night, the game will be in night scenery, all depending on your Wii's internal clock. You can even watch live performances if you are on at the right time.
One of the levels that is no where near fixed to it's spot, in this level it is always going up, over and over, it will never stop going up! And there are things in your road, random platforms, maybe chunks that you can't jump through, looks like fun. All you need to remember is to keep on going up, if you leave the screen, you will get an instant KO!
This is pretty much the home place of Pit, you can see it all in the background. But unlike other levels, where it was still, or moving up permanently, this one actually is fragile, you can literally snap the ground, break it, making there less platform to survive on. The key here is to keep alive, because we don't think everyone can fly...
Castle Siege is like you are all in the middle of a giant war. Based in the game of Fire Emblem, this level has everything from flying balls of fire to massive battles in the backdrop, eventually the ground breaks and you are moved to a new part of the level, and so on. Another great level with awesome visual effects.
The level of Wario Ware is literally like the game itself, maybe the most fast moving level in the whole of Brawl. It changed level sometimes every 5 seconds, just like the real Wario Ware, forcing you to overcome many obsticles while still trying to KO the other player!
By far one of the most interesting levels made on Brawl, the Pokemon Stadium level starts out as a boring flat level with only 2 small platforms! But then, it changes into a world like an ice world, and all of a sudden everything is slippery, then an airport, and every has boosted jump! Levels effecting how players play, what could be better!
The Halberd is the ship of Meta Knight which is why it looks a bit like him. It is quite a big ship, you start off inside a type of aircraft hangar, and make your way into the sky onto this place where there is a giant cannon which you should look out for because it could blow you off the face of the Brawl Universe!
A level from Metal Gear Solid! This level is great because it is very dark and gives a good depth to the feeling of playing. Ontop of that all there are pillars that also give a feeling that you are incaged, trapped inside something and you can't get out. Spotlights will find you, you can attack the walls, and even more there are Metal Gears that come out of the dark and start attacking you!
The stage of all stages! This is the biggest stage in Smash Bros history! The stage where anything, and most likely, can happen! Things like aggresive chimeras, cannons and obsticals everywhere! This really is the ultimate place, so big that you cannot understand, one minute you will be gazing at it's pure size and the next you will be running away from a giant enemy!
Gooey Bomb
The Gooey bomb is like the old mine from Melee, except this time it can stick to players as well! To stick it to a player all you have to do it hit them, just any hit, and it will be passed onto them, after a certain amount of time, it will explode and cause damage. Remember, it can end up coming back to the person who started it!
It's like a small fireworks machine really. This heavy thing shoots out lots and lots os ammo of fireforks, lots of bright light with this one! You can run with it, shoot in the air, even air the direction you want to shoot with!
What is there to say? It's crates and barrels, just like the other games. With items inside! But what's so different about this time? Well the Crates actually match the layout of the level. So if you are on a space ship, the crates are high tech! If you are in a nice place, the crates are presents. They can even roll off the hill now too!
A Banana Peel, we think everyone knows what happens with these, you throw em on the ground, and some fool runs along and slips on them! It is always funny though, it can also give you a chance to run away or maybe even attack them!
A bumper is really just something that you throw in midair or onto the ground, that whenever anything comes into contact with it, it just bumps off into the opposite direction causing slight harm. Putting one of these up can be annoying and make a lot of people frustrated!
The Pitfall item is off the game Animal Crossing. It is an item that once you chuck it at something it dissapears. Then once people walk over this new form of trap, they get sucked into the ground and stuck there for as much abuse as you can give them!
First of all, this item has no effect on characters what so ever. It does not affect how much they are hurt, it can be fun to play with, and can work as a handy tool for fighting. It really is just a smoke screen that can help you get away, or make a distraction, more of something just to muck around and play with.
If you have read about, you would have seen Fox's Downward special move to reflect onjects flying towards him. Well that's all this is, except you don't have to do anything. Once you pick it you, you are from then on out able to reflect any projectile coming towards you. Awesome!
This is a very interesting item, because it looks like food that gives you extra health, but when you eat it you start to spew out flames and hurt other players around you. Pretty cool! You can even do combos to cause lots more damage!
The Golden Hammer just like in the older Smash Bros games, just like Melee if you are unlucky enough in this one as well you can lose the heavy part on the end making it almost useless. If you tap it hard enough you can also actually float on midair shown below. This item is one you should look out for!
Just what are Assist Trophies?!
The best way to explain what an Assist Trophy is, is an item that you open and a random character appears (after all, Brawl is about characters coming together) and you cannot control it, but it Assists you and fighting the enemy. There are many of these and more are being thought up by the day! And remember, the things inside Assist Trophies are invincible!
When you use this Trophy, he comes out onto the playing field and starts slashing everywhere! He attacks every single little square inch you could imagine, so when you see this guy, duck for cover, because he can do some serious damage...fast!
This guy is from an old game on the SNES; Sim City! When he comes out of the Trophy he automatically begins what he does best, being incharge and building things! All of a sudden buildings pop out of the ground and hurt any player standing under where it came out!
Another character from the Kirby world, Knuckle Joe! He comes out and starts attacking everyone with various damage inflicting moves, Vulcan Jab! Smash Punch! Rising Break! All creative moves that will really hurt some of the people playing!
This is yet another character from an older come come back to cause some problems! Except this time he flies up into the air, gets in his usual pose, and points either left or right. Whichever way he points, and then the whole level will start shifting off the screen into that direction! Ah!
Andross is from the older Starfox games, he looks like a giant polygon. When he comes into play he inhales a great big mouth full of air then spits it all out as shards of 2D shapes which will hurt any enemy standing in the way of it!
When Lyn comes from the trophy, she slowly kneels down and builds up power to make a strong attack against the nearest unlucky soul. But then, she turns invisible! And again out of no where she strikes and causes massive damage!
How to explain this character...? Well he does not do much to aid the game but he does come out and give everyone playing a very big lecture on various things. He doesn't hurt anyone, he just bitches for the duration of his use!
If you can remember the Pokemon Unknown from Melee then these things are very similar. They come in massive quantitys and start attacking people for you, driving all over the level hitting and hurting anything in it's path!
Once there was a legendary man. He knocked heavyweight boxers many times his own size to the mat en route to a W.V.B.A. title. Little Mac appears from Punch Out! Man for a little guy he sure can pack a punch!
Just what are Pokéballs?!
All a Pokéball does is brings out a Pokémon! There are going to be many types of Pokémon in Brawl all with special abilities. You get them by picking up a Pokéball and throwing it, once it opens, a random Pokémon will come and and start to cause havoc! But they never, ever harm the player who threw the pokeball.
Groudon is from the cover of the Pokemon game Ruby version, and why shouldn't he be, he can cause a lot! of damage. Once he is out and into the open, he is very big, dwarfing most players in the game, and anyone that comes into contact with him will be badly burnt and hurt!
Such a quiet Pokemon, when Deoxys comes out, it looks very sleek and quiet, but as it slowly turns something is not right! It then unleashes Hyper Beam devastating everything in it's road!
This is another one of those things that doesn't like to hurt people. Although i wouldn't say it does nothing... What this Pokemon actually does is, it ignores all the players, and acts like it is bored... Until it sees an item! It will eat every item it can find on the whole Brawl Stage!
The cutest of the Pokemon are always the most evil of them all! Piplup comes out looking like it is the cutest thing in the world. But all of a sudden, it brings a wave out and starts to wash off itself and anyother character in it's way off the stage! Surf's Up!
It's Meowth! He finally reappears to Brawl ever since he first appeared in the original Smash Bros. Once he is unleashed from his Pokeball he starts to send coins flying everywhere and hitting other players! This move is called payday!
Basic Rules
Super Smash Bros Brawl is a fighting game, you attack eachother to see the last one standing. When you hit an opponent, his/her damage meter goes up! (as shown below). And the higher the percentage of the opponent, the further they will go! Until of course someone gets so high they they can be hit off the edge and lose a life! (shown below). You can play a stock match, where the first one to lose a certain amount of lives loses, or a time match, where you gain points for KO'ing people and the one with the most points at the end is the victor!
Part of playing Brawl is sometimes you are gonna be beaten, or at least attempted to be beaten. Every now and again when you have a high damage meter, an enemy will knock you flying off the edge! But how to get back? When you are in midair perform a midair jump by pressing the jump button, then if that is not enough, you can use your special move (upward) to boost yourself as a last chance back on!
There is a large diversity of moves that you can do in Brawl, from simple swift punches and kicks, the more complicated 'smash attacks' which can send enemies flying to their doom. There are 3 main types of attacks, Standard Attacks, Strong Attacks, and Smash Attacks. Standard Attacks are simply pressing the attack button to use a small attack on the enemy. Strong attacks are attacking while having the control stick tilted in a certain direction. And Smash attacks are doing both at once to unleash some of the strongest power in Smash Bros!
There are 4 types of special moves, all listed below by our example, Meta Knight. Standard Special Move, you just press the special move button, and for side, press either left or right, up, is up, and down is down. The following moves usually do the following:
- Standard Special Move: Normally just the basic form of attacking
- Side Special Move: Attacking either Left or Right with great power
- Up Special Move: For Recovering from falling, or possibly attacking upward
- Down Special Move: Defensive, used to nullify or maybe relfect certain attacks
One of the most important parts of Brawl is shielding, you cannot win purely on offense you need to sometimes play defensivly! Your shield can withstand anything! But the more it gets attacked the smaller it gets, until it gets so small it cracks, and once it cracks you get knocked out and are unable to move. But a shield is not the only way to dodge, you can also do sidestep dodges to dodge on the spot or do rolls which can send you backward or even under an enemy to attack from behind. These are all key elements of the game!
There are many ways to Brawl in this game with different controllers. One of the 4 ways to Brawl is to use the Wii Remote on it's side. But how would this work? The picture below should explain everything that there is to know about how to use a wii remote on the side!
- D-Pad: Move - You can move around with the Left and Right button on the D-pad of the Wii Remote, but if you aren't getting there fast enough you can double tap and hold it and you will start running in the direction you pressed!
- 2 Button: Basic Moves - This is how you do the most basic of attacks, simple hitting, whether punching or kicking. You can also perform smash attacks with this by either holding "2 and 1 at the same time" or by pressing "A direction on the + pad and the 2 button"
- 1 Button: Special Moves - The direction you press while pressing the 1 Button will determine which Special Move you do!
- B Button: Shield - Once you understand the basics of Shielding and Dodging. You can put your shield up by pressing the B Button. To dodge someone, hold down the B Button and press in any direction. And to grab someone, hold down the B Button and press the 2 Button. And lastly to throw an item, hold down the B Button and press the 2 Button!
- A Button: Taunt - Simply a way to taunt enemies, press this to make anyone watching feel even more upset when you KO there arse off the edge!
Final Smash is a new edition to Smash Bros... and one that won't be forgotten. The final Smash is a special glowing ball that will appear throughout the game. Once you see this ball, run as fast! as you can to get it, because whoever gets this will have an awesome power unleashed within them. If you look at the character list the udpated ones should have their Final Smash in there, and that will show you just how powerful some are...
Moving and Shooting
If you take a look back to previous Smash games, even as recent as Melee, you will have noticed when you fired a rapid fire weapon like the super scope. But in Brawl, you can not only run around with weapons like this, but you can also jump and around too, even jumping while running. Just another flexibility Brawl is bringing.
Yet again a new feature! In previous games when you wanted to attack fast you had to press the attack button repeatadly over and over. Whereas in Brawl, you actually have to ability to just hold the button down and it will keep punching/kicking without pressing it over and over. But you can also tap it over and over to perform combos, which inflict more damage then just holding it down!
In Brawl, if you see an enemy you can now actually land ontop of the enemy, and if you press jump at the same time you will be launched off the top of them into a massive jump! This can be very helpful, it also gives them a little shake. You can also turn it into a Combo with Meteor Smashes which can be very helpful!
Something that lacked a bit of work in Melee was the ability for characters with grapples! But this time all characters with grapples such as Samus and Link can now use it to save their own behinds! If you are plumeting to your death, rip it out and grip the edge, you can then pull yourself back on!
Wow, yet another new feature to Brawl! Gliding! It allows some characters like Meta Knight and Pit who can fly to be able to glide through the air, once you have done a jump in the air you can cruise down to the ground, you can nose dive into the ground and sometimes go straight back up! But remember, you can't change direction! Say goodbye to anyone gliding away from the stage!
GOOD NEWS! and by far some of the best we have had since this game was confirmed. It's online! You can now play online against anyone else with Brawl online! Remember that if you play international games the gameplay may be affected. You can play with either your friends, or with Random people throughout the world! There are 2 types of ways to play. With Friends or With Anyone.
To play your Wii friends on Wi-Fi you need to add eachother's names on Wi-Fi, once you have done that you then have the ability to see what status your friends have, so if one of them or more is up for a game you can join them and go play!. You can also change your icon while playing!
One of the coolest parts about playing with your friends is you can pre-input taunts, and then while you are playing you can use 1 of the 4 directional buttons to taunt your opponents!
Playing with Anyone is fairly straight forward. Just like on current Wi-Fi games like Mario Strikers you have an option to search for other people wanting to play random people. When you play people you will not share names, you cannot taunt and no record of the match will ever be kept. Even better, while you are waiting for your match to load, you can practice on Sandbag!!
Remember: This is still a working process, more information and features could be added in the future.
4 Different ways to Brawl!
Maybe Nintendo could not figure out which control scheme was the best...so they did all 4! A great move by Nintendo, whether you want to try using the new wii-mote to Brawl or whether you prefer the old style Gamecube controller with it's classic design, it doesn't matter, there are now many more ways of which to Brawl!
Names apparently play a big role in Brawl. You are actually not only able to have your name put in the game, but you can also customize your control scheme! There is also rumours that Nintendo will be adding a feature so that your name and controls can be stored onto your wii remote! Let's heop for the best!
Stickers are found throughout the Brawl world, just in general when you are playing you may find one lying around. Remember to grab it! These are very easy to get, and are pretty much just an extra feature added to the game for fun. You can mess around with them, customize them, and just have some fun!
Just like in the older games, Special mode, or in this case Special Brawl, allows you to comepletely customize how you want to battle. You can add various things such as making yourself metal, wearing bunny ears, even being on fire! You can then play eachother for fun and see how your new special abilities work!
Trophies are prizes that you can win throughout Brawl. Say you finish the Adventure mode, or you have played the game for 10 hours in total, then you will receive a trophy, there are hundreds to get and you can view them all on a table as your prized items to show off to all your other friends!
This is a great feature that has been in Melee, you can play with upto 32 people in one massive tournament! Choosing how many people you want to play a game. With every single option being able to be chosen how could you not love this feature. Now all they need is to put it online!
If you ever are doing something really unique or cool in Brawl that you wish you could show other people or keep the memory for a while, simply press Pause while it is happening! Once you are on the pause screen you can move the camera around to any position you want and take a snapshot!
On the gamecube you had to option to do this but it wasn't that great, it was only at certain times as well as you couldn't hold many photos on the Memory Card. But now it is much better, more simple, more fun, and the option to save it on your Wii Console or an SD card as well! And to finish it all off you can actually send the snapshots over Wi-Fi to friends you have registered! Let's hope this option doesn't get cut out when making the game.
It's back! One of the most popular modes in the previous Smash Bros title is back, and better then ever. The object is simple: bash the sandbag, and see how far you can send that sucker away! The further you send it the better, but you have to do it all in 10 seconds, so hurt it as much as you can in that time and then smack it with the baseball bat as far and as fast as you can! This time around, there are 4 differences, though.
- The stadium platform is protected by a shield
- Two players can play together
- Two-player alternating play
- Online competitions
This World
In the World of Smash Bros... Trophies fight... that is all they know, and that is all they can do... In this world, death is like being turned back into a trophy... This world has rules... and they are the Rules of this world. But when something... or possibly someone.... comes and changes these rules... the world will not be safe....
Brawl has always been a multiplayer experience, just like other games like Halo. But this time they are trying something new. They are offering some chances for a Single Player in the game! The Subspace Emissary is like a Single Player mode for the game. And as you can see below they sure look to be a lot of fun! This is going to be big... with characters teamed up in the spirit of Brawl, how can you not be happy! They are called the Subspace Army. To see a video on The Subspace Emissary Click here.
When things go wrong in the Subspace Emissary there are things that are a force of formless enemies known as the Subspace Army. They are all ruled by something known as the Ancient Minister! And they sometimes create things known as the Primid. These come in different variations. Their job is to destroy the world and they do this using a Subspace bomb. It engulfs anything caught in it's blast... until there is nothing left.To see a video on The Subspace Emissary Click here.
Petey the Prianha is the first boss you will come across in Brawl, and just looking at him can feel a bit daunting! He is massive, and in the cages in his hands lie Zelda from the Zelda games as well as Peach from the Mario games. He starts to try to attack you with the cages, until you eventually break one of them before the other and save one of the girls. But what happens to the other?...
The invasion of the terrible Subspace army has completely turned terra firma into absolute choas! But Pit watching from above in the heavens gets an imperial order from the Diety Palutena to go on a very important journey into the land of Brawl. You can also check out a Video of Pit's Descent Here.
Everyday it seems Adventure mode gets more features. This time, in the Subspace Emissary you can now play in a team! They can be any 2 people, but the game only follows one character, player one who is the protagonist, the other player really just has to keep and and help fight! This is great, you can add new team members on the way and change the strategy of your game as you progress. You can change the difficulty level of how you play too, the harder it is the more rewards you will get! It still runs on stock, once you run out of a certain amount of lives you lose! This is by far one of the best features to Brawl!
Subspace Enemy - Roader
This character really does look like a unicycle, except he is very fast, and also very strong. These usually come in larger packs so watch out!
Poppant is a little creature with a bathtub around his waist! Inside it is presents and gifts, but if you ever get close to him, he will run away!
These littles guys will multiply quicker then you can count them, so your best option is to destroy them before they can!
This thing will use it's Trowel-like arm to get characters, and lift them up into the sky with them!
This creature looks to be very scary! We do know to attack it's core if you want to get rid of it!
This bird comes from the sky and sticks itself into the ground!
This one is HUGE! It comes at you with these overwhelming blades, but the best way to attack it is at it's head!
These are the things that escort the Ancient Minister around! Some have various other abilites like being able to shoot missiles and fire!
Music cannot currently be played in this Guide, but that may change in the future, so for the moment feel free to use the official site, The Smash Bros DOJO! Click on the following links to listen to the music:

On October the 18th in the US, The E for All Convention will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. But heres the big news; this event will play host to the first ever playable demo of Super Smash Bros Brawl before!
If all goes well you may even be able to play as Sonic, with such a big hype over him why wouldn't you want to play as him. We can only hope for the best!
Something that has hurt every single SSBB fan since they have heard it... The launch date for Super Smash Brothers Brawl on the Wii has been changed from the 3rd December 07 to 10th February 08. An extra 2 more months waiting!
I will remind you now that this is the USA Launch date, Australia is not confirmed but we will be getting it even later. Remember that this extra delay is to get SSBB as perfect as it can be for launch. The design team at Nintendo really want this game to never be forgotten.
