News \ Wii's First Officially Licensed Controller Charger

SANYO is close to releasing the Nintendo Wii's first officially licensed charger dock.
Just like all the other hundreds of Wii Remote Chargers out there, it basically just re-charges the controller.
But! What makes this one special is the feature not needing the battery pack to be plugged in, rather using some amazing technology, the Wii Controller only has to sit in the cradle to be charged through magnetic induction processes.
This meaning nothing to plug in or pull out, we no longer have go through the time consuming hassle to take off the controller grips or sleeves to charge. Not only this, but you may connect four of these babies' up together to share off one single charger port.

The SANYO Wii Remote Charger is due for release in Japan on the 25th of August for approximately $54 Australian Dollars (converted).
But We're sure to see this dock hitting our shores in the not so far future.

i have this. Its really really bad. Or something similar anyway. The magnetic charge blah blah blah thing has been sold as a GAME product long beofre. Basically it stopped charging after the tenth charge. its no were near good. Just get a pack or normal rechargeable batterys and charge them sperately. get four and it means you wont have to wait. Charge two while playing with the other two. A lot less expensive

I'm so getting this! But you better be able to get battery packs seperately, so that you can use 4 packs with 1 charger, because I don't want to buy 4 of these for $54 each.

Completely OT: Don't worry too much. The electric car is back, the technology that went into it has been reinvented from the ground up and it's being made in Australia. Not only that, but you can actually buy the car (rather than only lease it like GM did) and they're not ridiculously expensive (ie I could afford one).

Oh really? Because I always said that if the electric car happens in a big way I would seriously consider getting a car. Thanks for the heads up

Back OnT: I have four generic battery packs and chargers from HK, and they suck. When using the controllers really hard (as in RR2) they will momentarily lose battery contact inside and switch the controller off. My friends don't like that! Having a good quality (ie officially licensed) battery pack option, especially one as cool as this is great. Given the technology that's going into them (compared with what goes into your normal China Cheapie) you can see you're not just paying for the licensing.

If you can connect up to 4 chargers on one AC adapter, hopefully the additional charging cradles will actually be cheaper than the first one, which would be nice.

It's not really that surprising. Sanyo is one of, if not the biggest rechargeable battery manufacturers in the world.

The induction charging technology, while ideally suited to this application, is nothing new by any stretch of the imagination. Braun has been using this technology in its rechargeable toothbrushes for going on ten years now. It was also used to recharge the now long-lost EV-1 electric car in California.

I think my mind must have been on the fritz this morning, I was thinking of Soniq ie JB's brand hence surprise

I have the Nyko recharger and it's great, but it's picky about how the controller is resting such that if it isn't lined up just perfect it isn't charging. The thing that annoys me about it, however, is that I can't have my sleeves on the controllers when they're charging, and it's a pain in the butt slipping them on and off, so I just leave them off.

I wish this one was available a long time ago, because I'd have bought it so I could leave my blue glove on the remote and the wife could keep her green one on hers.
