Kid Icarus Description:

In a time when men and gods lived in harmony, the kingdom of Angel Land was ruled by two goddesses: Palutena, the Goddess of Light, and Medusa, the Goddess of Darkness. Unlike Palutena, Medusa despised all humans and enjoyed destroying their crops and turning them into stone. One day, Palutena decided to punish the evil Medusa and banished her after turning her into a hideous monster. But Medusa would not go without a fight. She created an army of monsters and evil spirits and captured Palutena. Players play as Pit, a young angel trapped in the Underworld, and Palutena's only hope. They use a magical bow to retrieve the Sacred Treasures, defeat Medusa and restore peace to Angel Land.

This is without a doubt my number one game growing up as a kid. I remember playing this for hours and hours, days/weeks....losing the piece of paper I wrote the continue code on, then having to do it all again. lol

Nothing like a good platform game where you power up and buy things.

And I agree with some of the comments, why didn't they continue this franchise? *shrugs shoulders

Anyway, when I heard about the VC on the Wii, and that Kid Icarus was going to be available, I was sold. The rest has been a bonus...a very good bonus.

The first 3 levels are quite hard because you have no powerups. Go find a faq and read about the game mechanics and leveling up procedures (which are surprisingly quite sophisticated). After that the game goes from an up scroller to a side scroller and thats where the game really takes off.

This game is a lesson in game appreciation. All those who say they love video games must play this game. It makes you realise what we take for granted in video games these days (responsive controls beautiful graphics). Take the challenge on and have a look at one of the master games on the NES.
