That casemod does looks like ass. Would have been more impressive if they gave the phone's case a great paintjob.

Not really. No rewiring or anything, just sticking the phone's internals inside the controller case. I did a casemod where I put the circuit board of a Flash cartridge inside a GBA cartridge so that it fit nicely and didn't look out-of-place (the original cartridge being white and my Micro being black). Easy job.
