Boogie! - 8/10
TRAILER
--------------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
I made a brave move by getting this game, I was curious to see what it was like, as it was the first of I'm sure, many karaoke/dance games on the Wii, and I was a fan of SingStar on PS2 lol.
Boogie, allows you to attempt three different modes, Singing/Karaoke, Dancing and Video Editing. The modes have their ups and mostly downs, but are fun i guess. Anyhow, on with the review!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
GRAPHICS – 7/10
The graphics on EA's Boogie for Wii, arn't the best but they are definatly not the worst we've seen on this console..
*cough* GT pro series *cough cough*
The graphics, are at some times, jagged and polygonal. Which is not really a drama all so much, cause I didn't have high hopes for this game anyways. There's not much more I can say on graphics, its pretty straight forward: Not the best, but not the worst.

GAMEPLAY - 7/10
This game offers lots of different modes etc. that you are able to play, allowing nearly every person that plays it to find something they find fun.
Sing it! - 8/10
sing it, is probably the mode you will find yourself using the most in the game, mainly because its the most.. uh, responsive and easy to use. This karaoke mode allows you to pick a range of songs from a list, there are quite a lot of good ones there, which I found surprising. The mode works like SingStar (well at least trys to), the lyrics are displayed at the bottom of the screen and there are lines across the screen with (hard to explain) 'long bubbles' which signify the pitch of the note. There is an arrow indicating where abouts you are on the 'lines' which moves up and down also showing what pitch your at, this really needs some work as it is most of the time unresponsive.
The mode features a point system, which means you gain points for singing throughout the song, achieving different ammounts of points for the right pitch etc. There is also a clock (wow) which lets you know how much there is to go, and medals: Gold, Silver and Bronze, which work with the point system.

Dance it! - 5/10
The Dancing mode on this game, basically plain sucks.
You have to swing the wiimote and numchuk around to perform moves, press the A button to change styles, move around the screen with the control stick or D-pad, and hold Z and perform the actions on the screen to perform a special. To get points in this mode, you must do the moves to the beat, this is somewhat easy as the the Wiimote speaker sends out a 'metronome' sound to help you keeping the beat.
There isn't much more too it, its pretty basic and crappy.
Kids may enjoy it as they usually have fun swinging objects around and scoring points for it, without effort and skill.
Create it! - 6/10
Create it! sounds pretty cool, but its just a easy to use video editor that allows you to edit your favourite sing it! and dance it! recordings. There are multiple effects and stuff to edit your video's with, such as flying love hearts and fish's !! Crazy ay!!?................ (not)
You can change the camera angle, and display flying messages throughout the edited video. The point of this mode, I do not know. But I'm sure some kids would find it fun at least.
Story Mode, Shop etc. - 7/10
Since getting this game, I've only found myself on story mode once.
It is great, if you enjoy all three aspects of the game: Dancing, Singing and Creating. But myself finding singing as the only real reasonable part of the game, usually I just stick to Karaoke mode.
Karaoke mode allows you to sing any of your favorite songs which are in the game, except for some which you have to win points from singing already available songs to buy them, or unlocking them in story mode..
The points which you obtain can also be used to buy clothes and other things from the shop to customize your character/s. There is a range of shirts, jackets, shorts, jeans, belts, hats, shoes and much more. I didn't find myself buying any of these things, but my 10 year old sister did :]
There are 5 characters that you are able to choose from, 3 of the five look like retarded alien creatures but there are also a male and female character too.
Characters
Kato
A martial arts pro, that has decided to start singing and dancing..?
Julius
A green, mean, entertaining machine. He is famous across the galaxies..
Bubba
Dont let his looks decieve you (lol), this guy sweats the oldies and is on the road to stardom.
Lea
A aspiring pop star, with plenty of talent. She is heading straight to the top!?
Jet
The biggest pop star in the world, he has some ego problems too.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
SOUND – 9/10
The sound and music of the game is pretty good, and so was expected from a music based game. It is clear, funky and groovy. The songs that are available are quite good, they range from some popular oldies' to todays modern music, and is spread out across many different genres.. even RAP!? (really hard lol)
There isn't much more to talk about with sound, other than its great.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
THE MICROPHONE - 9/10
This game of course, comes with a pretty slick Wii Microphone. Which you are able to plug into the USB port, located at the back of the wii console.
The Microphone is great, though it doesn't pick up noises too far away from the microphone :/ so you're gonna have to have it reasonably close to your mouth.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
OVERALL – 7.567/10
Its a pretty fun game i guess, I got it out the other night when the whole family was around and we played it for hours!! Little kids will defiantly enjoy it, but particularly girls who dream of being lil' pop stars (my sister).. If you like singstar but don't have a PS2, Boogie is the way to go!
and Well done to EA for producing Wii's first karaoke/dancing game :]
