Super Mario 64


Introduction
Super Mario 64 was sort of a big leap in Platform gaming for Nintendo being the first 3D platformer for the Mario series. The game was introduced to a whole new world filled with many adventures to unfold. Mario was set in for a big surprise.

Story
Super Mario 64 begins with a letter from princess peach who invites him to come and eat a cake which peach baked for him. He arrives and discovers that Bowser has invaded the castle and imprisoned peach and all her servants. Bowser has also taken power of 105 out of 120 stars.


Gameplay
The aim of the game was to complete all the stages, get 120 stars and save Yoshi. Although all that stuff was optional. All you had to do to get to the Final Bowser and save Peach which was 70/120 stars. The stages were very creative with 8 stars to gather from them. Some terrains went from in the water, in the sky or even on the surface of hot boiling Lava. There were also 15 hidden castle stars which we're hidden somewhere inside Peach's castle and 3 Bowser stages. Once you have found 120 stars and all you open the cannon in the front yard of the castle and shoot up and save Yoshi. So there is obviously a lot of things you can aim for doing in this game. The stages were paintings of pictures that lead to another realm which was I thought very creative.

Controls
Now one of the great things about the games were the controls. They were very interactive and fun to use. Mario can do lots of things like walk, crouch, crawl, jump, slide, kick, punch, run and climb. Combinations of buttons did things like the long jump, triple jump, wall jump, side and back flip which were used in lots of places to get to get lots of things.


Audio
The sound was used through well out the games like shouts from Mario saying "Yahooh!" when he was jumping to the enormus thuds from Bowser when he was walking. The game produced a great soundtrack which mixed in very well with the stages. The audio effects like outside of Peach's castle like the water running and Birds chirping made the place very peaceful and relaxing.

Graphics
For an N64 game, the graphics were quite impressive. The game produced an amazing atmosphere being the first 3D platformer for the Mario series. Probably the best of all N64 games out. Nintendo used the max of these graphics to produce %110 gameplay, awesome stages and revolutionary ideas that you now see in games now-a-days.


Conclusion
Overall this game is pretty amazing. So if your thinking this game isn't what it all seems, play it, and you'll mix right into it straight away. I reccomend this to anyone who has played a Mario platformer before.
