Mario Strikers Charged - 8/10
Although Nintendo slaps Mario's name on numerous video game titles each year there is never one of low quality. Some are average, while others our good while others are extremely good but come out on specila occasions. Mario has appeared in multiple genres. He's been in Platforming games, RPG's and more. Although today's toipic is sports. Mario Strikers Charged is the first Mario sports title for Wii and turned out to be very interesting. You can choose from multiple captains to lead your team. Captains include Mario, Luigi, Wario, Yoshi, Peach and DK. Each character has a special attack that can only be released if your doing well in a game wicth is similar to a Final Smash in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Mario and Luigi can grow to a huge height to squish enimies in their way. Wario uhhhh... Farts to stun enimies. Yoshi gets in a giant egg and rolls around squishing enemies and Bowser can breath fire to keep enemies out of his way. Other than your team captain you can choose a few sidekicks to assist you. Sidekicks include Boo, Koopa Troopa, Monty Mole, Birdo, Toad and Dry Bones. You can use items to make the match wackier. Items range from koopa shells, banana peels and chain chomps. Items can change the flow of the battle and can be tricky to avoid. Multiple stages are here for you to choose so you have varity of options. From a desert to a wooden tree-house type DK stage each stage is unique and has a different setting. There are 17 stages total as well as a few Gamecube favorites. The controls are simple. You move using the nunchuck's analog stick. To pass is a press of the A button. a flick of yje Wiimote allows you to tackle whoever has the ball To use an item or activate your special attack press the C button. To shoot you press the B button. If you hold down the B button the shot will be charged up so its chances of getting the ball in the goal is higher. If you charge it up long enough and do some good timing on a bar thing. Your captain will leap into the air and release multiple balls in your foe's net. If your opponet does this special shot you will play a quick mini-game so you can block the shots. You aim at the screen and press the A button before the balls make it in the net. One of the games biggest features is Wi-fi matchs. Now can play with your friends or anyone else online. There are Ranking to track your progress and a leaderboard. The leader board tracks all players who've played online matchs. There is My Season Ranking wicth allows you to find players who seem like a good match toward your skills. There is the Season Leaders wicth allows you to see the top 10 ranked playersof a season (1 week). My Daily Ranking allows you to see players ranked closest toward you for the day and Daily Leaders let you view the top 10 players of the day. Those are the features of Wi-fi and they are pretty interesting if you ask me. The Graphics haven't changed from the Gamecube version. There not bad but I noticed big graphic steps with other Mario titles such as Galaxy and Super Paper Mario. Overall the game is alittle above average and is better then the Gamecube version. It is worth your purchase but you'll sell it in a few months gone by.
