Brawl? - 6/10
So, after long hours of gameplay from start to end i have come to a point where my review should be complete.
Intro
The smash bros series is a crosser over Fighting game, the game is full of characters from Nintendo's gaming franchise, players then beat the crap out of each other to see who rains supreme, eg: mario, link, pikachu and others.
The series started out on nintendo 64 with super smash bros. which was a very high demand game (as i kid i couldnt get the game anywhere and neither could my parents) it recieved the most positive reviews from the media and sold over 4.9 million copies.
Next game to the smash game, was melee. Melee i think was a huge step up from the 64 version, graphics more detailed didnt look like papercraft characters, more characters which gave you a bigger range to suit the player, and more stages with where our favorite came from; Final destination. Melee was the best selling game on gamecube and sold more than 7 million copies world wide.
Last but probally not least, is super smash bros brawl. Brawl has a even bigger list of players even some had to be cut from melee (roy and dr. Mario which i miss.. alot) but some third party characters were introduced to the game; Konami's Snake from the metal gear series, and sonic from nintendo's arch-rival sega. on top of this, out of the smash bros series this was the first game to feature online multiplayer. Brawl sold more than 4.47 million copies world wide, as of september 2008.
Gameplay
Now i might blabber on or even flame the game till its disintergrated, and in advance im sorry. First of all this game was delayed, majorly for us and i was coping with the delay cause i realised it came out on my birthday and nothings better than that! (back then) so day passes when its my birthday and straight after school i bolted down to the shops and picked up my pre-ordered game with a gamecube controller, cause my other one broke from melee.
first 3 weeks of the game i was loving it, and i didnt have any online friends and wanted to expand my "skills" with other people, so i joined mywii and so did my mate. Game intensified times 1000, new things were introduced that id never seen or bothered to use! chain grabs! (series of grabs that is hard for a player/character to escape from) air dodge! (dodge projectiles and attacks, also can be used on ground) and NOT using items (made the game more player dependent).
Honestly, i didnt realise how crap i was compared to the guys on here and after weeks passed things started to change. Online system is crap, you can only do like 2 things in basic brawl and paitence is not a virtue. i was getting bored and annoyed with spammers (people that decided to use one more consistently) some characters far out ranked others which made the game un-fair most the time.
Sub-space is alright, but way too easy. its really just a movie your playing for, which id say its alright to get into but you wont play it ever again.
tropheys have to be obtained by a coin game, which is a waste of time when you could be brawling, trying to interlude a mini game is a stupid idea.
Classic mode, still seems to have its "classic" right. Crazy hand still is a challenge which i find fun but boring to get to.
All-star mode, is not bad; a let down if youve got a brother that needs to replenish health all the time.
Graphics
beautiful, im so happy to see samus's suit glossy and brand new, cool damage effects to characters eg: slashing damage, combat damage, electrical damage, fire damage.. etc.
Sound
never experienced such a good sound track besides the dodge opera that annoys me, to change every stages music to your likings is a positive.
although i wish you could set songs you like to other stages rather than the ones its set to it.
In-Conculsion
Its a game you have to have but yet a game you'll regret to have. its nothing like melee, melee had a sence were you would put the controller down and you would play the game till it screws up with brawl you dont get that feeling, its like twilight great book got turned into a really bad movie = crap. Online play competitively makes the game that lil bit better but theres too much missing from this game for your likings.
