Wii Hardware \ Joytech charger: DO NOT BUY!

Richii says:

So I bought this charging station about two months ago and had no problems with it until this morning. This particular charger plugs into the wii with a passthrough plug inbetween the console and the power cord. This morning i noticed my wii power light was red and when i tried to turn it on, nothing. No power, nothing. Unpluged it, pluged it back in still nothing. I then removed the passthrough, pluged the power cord directly into the wii and hey presto, back in business. The morale of the story? If your going to buy a charging station you might be better off with a USB one.

Any third paty device (even original) will have problems. I have a powerwave charging station that I have had problems with (battery points werent touching good enough). But with a little tinkering all good now.

But thanks for the heads up. Hopefully its not a problem with all of them.

I guess its something we have to expect from third party devices. Hopefully one da Nintendo will do what they should have done from the start and release one themselves.

i dont think it has anything to do with 3rd party its about making a quality product and stores not selling inferior ones that just breakdown.
i had bad service in store's and faulty products

Sorry Knight. I bent the arms inside the battery compartment. Worked like a treat.

Well, I've had my Joytech power station for a bit over four months now, and I'm pretty happy with it!

The only thing that has happened was that one of the Wiimotes wouldn't connect, but a quick turn off at the power point, and it's been fine ever since. I would recommend you doing that too Richii. It's amazing how much it will help!

Tried that, still no good. I'm going to see if i can buy a cable that i can plug straight into a wall socket.

I plug my USB chargers into my PS2, since the Wii only has two USB ports.

So, after you turn your Wii off at the wall, replug the station back into the back of your Wii, then turn the power back on. What happens then? Does the Wii still not turn on at all?

thanks guys i was going to buy one of these charging stations think ill stick to rechargeables. btw before i bought rechargeables i went through over 300 single use batteries... i think i still have a drawer full lol. Does anyone know if that $80 charger in Kmart (maybe elsewhere) actually works on disposibles? (it says it does up to 15 times, but is made in hongkong/taiwan lol)

No, if what you are asking is can you charge regular alkaline batteries. And be careful using rechargable batteries in your Wiimotes, older ones can leak which will kill your precious controllers. I would still recommend a Joytech power station, it's been brilliant for me, and there's always the warranty if something goes wrong.

There are a few chargers that will recharge disposable battries, In my experience they arnt great, but they do put some charge back into them. Most of these have safty cutoffs and only use a very low trickle charge. The charger will advertise if it can recharge disposable batteries.
