360s are firmware hacks...the current modchips on the market don't touch the firmware.

It will work, but you will require the region free boot disc (i can't remember the name off the top of my head). I just tried this out the other night. I do have a wiikey modchip, i had a gamecube ntsc backup of Megaman X and it worked perfectly using the boot disc.

All this hate is lulz-worthy. Very much so.

There are more important things to actively hate.

Anti-piracy software or hardware revisions is not what is going to cut down on piracy. What will make a difference is making the purchase of a boxed game more worthwhile. As it stands the only difference between buying a game and copying it or downloading it from the internet is that you get a box and a poorly-written manual.

Infocom was great at this. Their games used to have non-standardised packaging, often related to the game's theme. A police mystery game called Deadline, for example, came in a Manila folder similar to a police case file.

Infocom games also with Feelies: extra content in the form of printed media, accessories or even plastic rocks, all sharing the game's theme, and often required to solve certain puzzles or progress. The Hitchhiker's Guide to The Galaxy, being a comedy game, came with a Microscopic Space Fleet — an empty plastic bag — and pocket fluff, which was a recurring item in the game itself.

It's not much, but this all adds something special to a purchase. It's a shame that these are only included in Limited Edition Collector's boxes (and only if you're lucky). It should be standard in all boxes.

The fact is that no matter what MS or nintendo do someone will find a way around it. No matter how much you want them to "die" for doing so its never going to stop. All the companies can do is evolve. The music industry is a perfect example with itunes and the myriad of other options around. The movie industry is another example with VOD movies embedded within media center software. There is always going to be a section of the community who dont want to pay full price (or any price at all). Wishing them to die is immature and not addressing the problem.
Desi is right, make the purchase more attractive and get more people purchasing.

Ok, i MUST do some n00b bashing. Just this once.

1. Modding in the AU is legall for good reasons. As it is a way to get import games to work on consoles.

2. Modding isnt only for illegal things, so for everyone that is going phsco at everyone(and saying for them to be killed)why dont you just go kill yourself(if your going to be killing anyone) and leave us in peace? Gamers are peacefull. (Or so i thought)

3. Wii-Key is the best option for most users. Only the original though. Open sourced mod chips are best though, but are not for every user.

4. For them rempent homicidial users, could you please leave the gaming scene? You give us a bad name I am a pasfisct, i will not harm no one, or no thing.

So point being, dont jump to conclusions.

All chips basically do the same thing. They let you play backup games. But the Wiikey is the most advertised and the most popular. Thus it has been tested out in "the real" world the most. I've installed hundreds of these (in Adelaide, XPunked.com) and have zero complaints about the chip. Thats enough for me to personally recommend the Wiikey. I've had very little experience with other chips so I can not personally vouch for their reliability or functionality, but hey probably also work just fine.
