Which Doubles Player to Hate the Most?

My wife and I have played quite a few games of mixed doubles and I USED to have the upper hand. Then she found PAT CASH - who is now on my #1 death wish. Now my game result resembles the bits of mop ends you see on the floor!

No matter what I do, PC batters me and my partner.

We've just had a big domestic, and I'm about to grab a beer and don some knee pads!

As the classic saying goes "wish me luck - I'm going in!"

(PS, I know, I'm sad, it's only a game......WHAT AM I SAYING!!! LOL)

I haven't yet played any singles tournaments. But funny enough, when my wife teamed up with Federer and I teamed up with Navratalova, we would win as Federer could be beaten at the net in doubles - and Federer has a much higher ranking than Cash (actually and Wii). Mind you, Cash, I believe was a better doubles player, so you just can't go on ranking alone. Trouble is, in doubles, I've always gone for a serve volleyer and there just isn't a female good enough (sorry ladies!). Add to the fact my wife used to play pennants tennis and I've only played it socially with mates.

I think I'll have to try a big serve base slogger. But I absolutely refuse to use either of the William sisters

Tennis is an awesome sport; good to find another few tennis players. I suppose in real tennis it's generally best to get into the net as quick as possible in doubles, but really you need to be very aware of what both players are doing when you go to hit your approach shot.

The same somewhat applies in this game. I've noticed that the computers do a lot of crossing non service returns (swapping sides to hit an early volley), and your wife would probably do this too, being a former pennant tennis player.

I say getting past Cash might just be a matter of hitting your returns as wide as possible when there's only one opponent at the net.

Tennis just doesn't compare with table tennis.
Nah but I always hate playing against Nadal (doubles or single) and Roddick, if you get Roddicks serve right online the lag makes it unhittable I reckon.

Yes agreed! Tennis IS a great sport, the beauty with it, players can attack it at whatever intensity their fitness allows. Yes agreed too on the approach shot and the approach (no pun intended) on Pat Cash! And you are right, my wife DOES do that - the bitch! (Just Kidding LOL).

Thanks for the input Diddy! Actually, I've played both and love them for different reasons. Playing my wife at TT allows me pay back because I put lots of spins on the ball. (Insert wicked grin here LOL)

Lol, I do all the tricky spin shots and power ones to. The spin with a little added pwer are the best ones though, they curve just a little to throw the opponent off their game then bam!.

Based on watching a lot of tennis international tournaments and since we're obviously only talking about their court attributes we do!

Really? I hate watching golf, it always makes me feel so **** about my golfing abilities when I watch Tiger hit a 300 metre drive straight down the middle of the fairway.

LOL Diddy!

I'm that bad at golf that I was banned from playing when they brought in the anti-terrorist laws! But I'll tell you an (actual) story.... Many years ago, my brother 'B' and I played two others brothers 'P' and 'K'. We played 18 holes. Now, 'K' was a winger, you know the type, not happy unless they are complaining about anything and everything and always miserable.

A real joy to be around! .... NOT!

Anyway, first hole, a par 5. To shut 'K' up (and put some distance between myself, my brother 'B' and 'K's brother 'P' we allowed complaining 'K' to tee off first. He had a fairly respectable drive with a slight hook, that put down the fairway on the right side.

I teed of next and yelled FOUR! because I knew if I fluked a decent hit, I could pass him, and therefore possibly hit him. 'Just bloody T off yelled 'K' as he defiantly stood next to his buggy.

Oh well, P, B and I agreed, serves him right if he gets hit. I teed off and heard the sweet 'TK' of a rare perfect connection between club face and ball. Wooooosh - ssssss - TOK! Straight into K's left knee cap! He sank like a rock. P, B and I collapsed in a mutual paradise of laughter.

Oh well, said P, at least you have something to complain about - you were warned! On we played with said K hobbling and complaining more and more. Last hole, a par 3. Right said K, I'll stand behind you this time. TOK - Bang - TOK - sa
