actually i think the gameplay is better than SSBB the combos are so awesome! and its pick up and play kind of as well for friends coz to do combos it is pretty much A, A, A, or A, A, B... highly recommended even though roster is crap... i play with turtles mostly anyway so i dnt reely notice much

yes i played online, with lag though because it was probably against america or sumtn, waitin for local friend codes here... but the online is awesome as well thats y i need friend codes here!!!

ps. if u can get past the crap roster, it really is an excellent game in terms of gameplay

I'm not doubting the game but i'd just like to know whether or not the game utilizes the peripheral?

No kidding, it didn't help that Ubisoft were tossing the word "Brawl" around every five minutes in the ads/trailers.

Funny that. What'cha on about, you ask?...

How much characters were in the 'first' SSB game again? For a first game 12 or 16's not extremely bad. I confess that the character selection sucks huge donkey balls (and we all know Ubi' wanted us to believe we'd see some SSBB characters but obviously there isn't).

That were the cons but the pros; decent (better than ssbb's) online (meaning low lag appearances). Also there are sexy modeS in the online.

SSBB for me was a MASSIVE let down. Ridiculous amount o' lag, hardly any online modes (spectating? WoW! ). And the feel of the game is quite noobed (feels tampered), i prefered Melee' 'feel' better.

Like some dude said above, if you ignore the poo roster than i believe i'd have more of a fun time on Smash Up than Brawl

While I agree that Brawl isn't all that it could of been (Lucario, Toon Link and ROB over Little Mac, K.Rool and Black Shadow? And getting rid of Mewtwo was unforgivable. Let's not forget the useless Stickers, Masterpieces and Chronicle, and how the Trophies suck ass compared to Melee. This isn't even mentioning the slower gameplay or lack of balance)

However, to say that this is better than Brawl is just moronic. And yes, in a fighting game, the roster does matter a great deal.
Ever wonder why Street Fighter 3 bombed horribly despite great gameplay and visuals? A shitty roster, that's why.

And no, this being their first game is no excuse, this is 2009, not 1999, 16 characters with a good deal of them being trash doesn't cut the mustard, especially when Ubisoft blatantly lied. How is it a game celebrating the 25th Annerversiry of TMNT when it only reps the most recent things and completely ignores their most popular variation of it, the one which fans most want?

Also, the no one expected Brawl characters, just characters that people care about (I.E: not Nightwatcher or Utrominator) and classic favourites (like Bebop and Rocksteady), surely they knew that. And I'm not even going near the Rabbids.

One last thing: The art style is terrible, and, like everything else in this game, was made purely to advertise that terrible new CGI movie.

while i agree with ubisoft needing to put bebop and rocksteady in it, and putting in crap characters, like i said **** roster, but excellent GAMEPLAY. actually try this game and feel the gameplay before u judge the game based on the roster, because the actual fighting and gameplay mechanics are a lot better than SSBB.
i promise u ull have more fun fighting a friend in this game, than u would in SSBB.

p.s. anyone have this game yet besides me??

TheDarkBJ, I agree with you buddy. For real, i agree with you 100%.
But what my point kinda-ish was/is (which you covered ) is that the Super Smash Bro's is what we're really interested in from day one, now SSBB releases and everybody is hyping it like it's a masterpiece from Mr.Genius. But i believe that TMNT: Smash Up's 'modes' would've been more suited with Brawl, and - like 'poptdp' is saying - the "feel" of the Smash Up is better than Brawls (devs said TMNT: SU will feel more like Melee).

But don't sweat it, i totally agree with you dude

the fatal flaw was using smash bros brawl as a marketing tool which turn against itself. Who uses another game to advertise its own game? It's as tryhard smash game. the end

Yet again, i agree
Howeverr, you still fail in acknowledging my point. It's a "tryhard smash game" but has better online than the orginal, super-hyped 'SSBB' itself (very minor lag and heaps o' modes online to make it even more fun and challenging).

Yeah the characters suck but the gameplay feels like Melee (Melee feels better than ssbb's). Now as long as there are a considerably decent amount of characters for a first game, an ok-ish roster (4 turtles, splinter, shreddar-ish lol, and a few others), a smooth online experience with a sh!t-load amount of online modes then i'm cool.


Better than what i get from ssb"B" which has awesome characters and final smashes but two things make that all in vein = tampered feel of gameplay (for new audience) + a broken online feature
(i'd say stick with Melee?)

I'm not defending Smash Up in the least for it's errors but i just don't think things are being let to slide like how MUCH was allowed to slide with this god-given ssbb.

I agree with you though...

Well, there have been plenty of better games, the ones made by Konami last gen (that were based on the recent cartoon) were great beat em ups (with a VS mode I might add, that did have a good roster), especially the first one.

I kinda had my doubts about this, but looks like you think it might be ok... I have SSBB and as much as i do like the game it could have been miles better and kinda gets boring after a while with limited moves. The online takes so long to wait and join...

How is online play with TMNT? do you have to wait long and is the server good. i found SSBB server the worse i have ever seen, it can be like your on dial-up at times, where as the xbox 360 servers are the best i have seen. the online experience is almost perfect every time with any game....

with online, if you search for randoms, it takes just as long as SSBB to start a match, but the lag is slightly better in this one. if u verse people with friend codes LOCALLY, it is a lot better than SSBB, very little lag if any.

for all the people with doubts of the game, if u dont know about spending the money on it, just buy from EB/GAME, and if u dont like it within the first 10 mins, RETURN IT!!! but im betting that u will

and if u are worried about lack of moves like SSBB, this is the complete opposite... it has so many moves per character its not funny... kinda explains y they didnt have as many characters (because of so many moves per person). i will list most of the moves i can remember:
(smash = direction and button at the same time)
-side smash A
-up smash A
-down smash A
-combos (AAA or AAB or AB)
-side smash B
-up smash B
-down smash B
-up weak A
-up weak B
-side weak B
-B

the best part is, u can make ur own combos by starting with a combo like AAA, followed up by a smash attack or another combo!!! seriously they nailed the gameplay on this one. it is simple enough for a noob to do it (like friends), and it is also good enough for experienced players to practice with and pull off longer and better combos
