Lulz. I know man, they're completely targetting us, and everyone knows it.

The same night in my last story, my gf got breath / drug tested too haha. She had never been tested before so was all eager to give it a go, cops probably thought she was buzzin' on something hahaha.

If you ever want to have some fun with your mates, when you get to the booze bus, roll down your window and ask "what seems to be the officer problem?" while slurring your words (South Park) They'll think they have you for sure, and be a little surprised when your totally sober

Note: Your screwed if you do this while you actually are drunk...

I'd think you'd be screwed for doing this regardless

Another drug bus area I drove through, they'd routed all the traffic to go through a tafe / uni carpark. Had the sherrifs department, department of immigration, police and customs there. Was like.... 'woah......'

That's only because P-platers have such a crummy reputation. Once in a while I hear people doing about 100km/h over the speed limit, and 90% of the time, it's a p-plater.
I'm not saying it's you personally, Stygian, but I'm just saying, is all.
I, for one, don't speed due to a speeding ticket I copped. Not worth it.

Nor do I, as a P-Plater. Only have 1 demerit point left to my knowledge, and no, didn't lose them from speeding.

Cut off an unmarked cop doing a u-turn around a round-about from the wrong lane without indicating. In my first month on the road.

Eh.

Hahaha. Speaking of;

Was out a couple days ago, to the drive-ins, pulled into the drive-ins driveway about 100m before a booze / drug bus was, sending a text, seeing where my gf was. Anyway. Booze bus sent a patrol car down after me, here I am, just casually parked on the furthest side of the driveway, cop hits the sirens / alarms etc etc....... ...... wasn't even moving.

... wtF? :|

lol they like to target us...then again majority of the drivers on the road cant drive and they aren't P plates. Seriously, not every week a P plater crashes and kills someone. They should bring a law where EVERYONE should take a test every so many years to renew their license. They are some shockers out there...

would you not say that this is due to drivers not being properly educated to start with???

Is this not the reason that the new laws and P plate things are in place??

I think that it should be compulsary for all drivers to do an advanced driving course, before they even think of giving out P plates.

Mate, do you really think that 120 hours is all you need to drive??
you never stop learning on the road, but giving people as much experience and driving advise as possible before they get let out on their own.

I am now 26 and started racing cars when i was 12, i had 4 years driving experience before driving on the road for the first time and 6 years racing/2 years learner driving experience and an advanced driving course before getting my P's and going out on my own.

I would say that all the experience from that was a big help and when you think about it, 120 hours over 2 years, that is not really a lot of driving time, i actually clocked that in my first 12 months.

I say... How much is ya life worth.... 120 hours??

120 hrs over 2 years is nothing ,it works out to less than 2 mins a day it should be 120 hrs a year for both years at least .
i had way more than 120hrs before i went for mine and i wasnt even really trying to get hrs up i just drove as much as i could as i enjoyed it .

i see nothing wrong with green P's and those that say "they're ugly" im sure the tac were trying to find the ugliest colour to use just to annoy you ,,,as if ugly has anything to do with driving safely

"Mate", do you really think our government would stuff around with the most dangerous environment, the roads?
Road rules are set accordingly to ensure that, if everyone follows it, no accidents will occur.
What are you talking about with "advanced driving course"? How advanced do you want to go? I don't understand your logic of thinking.

See i am concerned about some people...quite a few that i know of who have only completed about 20 hours of driving lessons and then just took the test and passed.

I guess with the new system in place this will stop...although i dunt have to do a log book coz i have had my Ls for such a long time but i havent got Ps yet....but i am subjected to the two stage system...

It takes years to be any good at driving and then only if you get the experience in all road conditions and types of roads etc. Most people still can't drive correctly around trucks. So 120 hrs is not nearly enough.

I got done the other night. Breath test, drug test, roadworthy, the works. I ended up with $185 fine and 2 demerit points taken off me for not having P plates correctly put up. One had fallen off the back window and was just laying on the back dashboard. I didn't even notice and he said that I got off easy. Must have been trying to reach his quota I reckon!!!

Whatever. Clearly it is, or the government will change it, YET again. I didn't do 120 hours, and I knew everything there was to driving on a road. Passed my license test first go. I have been on my P's for about 7 months now, and still nothing has gone wrong.

I tend to think 120 hours is enough, but you get more than enough in experience anyway. Not everyone is an idiot driver. Still, I am still learning just about every day and I have been driving for 10 years now. Even my parents are still learning, it all depends who is on the road. Dermy I tend to think that was a bit of a silly comment, unless you were being sarcastic.

Regardless if you're the idiot driver (not calling you an idiot) or not, the guy next to you could very well be. A while ago, driving down Bell St, some hoon decided he would harrass me, and attempt to run me off the road with a few sharp swerves (spelling?), luckily I managed to keep my cool and get myself and my best mate out of the situation.

@ Dermy - 7 months is nothing on the road. I've only been driving solo for a little over a year, and would never have made a comment such as the one you made, and I doubt some of the experienced drivers who patrol these forums would either.

Everyone is going to have their own different opinion on this issue, it's a fact, some may think 120 hours is enough, some will think otherwise. I think the new testing methods will be benefical for everyone, I think a compulsory 120 hours is a great idea, one of my old friends got his Ps after 10 hours driving... no way near enough time on the road learning.

But each to his own I guess.

but 120 hours does not give you ALL the experience you need. Trust me, the first time you are put in a situation you cant handle or dont know how to handle, you'll understand. You are no where near knowing everything about driving on the road.

I don't think you got what I was saying Styg.... I am saying 120 hours is enough, you can't punish everyone with more hours as not everyone is a stupid butt driver. And as I mentioned, you do get enough experience on the road and really the "idiot" drivers can lose their license and then they can learn their lesson.

I know all about the other drivers on the road, this is called defensive driving of which I do every day.

Also maybe they should teach Canberra drivers how to drive in Sydney for example and also teach other states that come to Canberra how to go around round-a-bouts.

i dont think people should look at the 120hrs as punishment .
like i said before 120hrs is nothing over a period that big , i drove to and from work every day it took me all of 3 months to get 120hrs now . that was all city driving im melbourne nothing over 70kmh .
i think it should be 500 hrs ,250 city 250 hwy/freeway over 2 years.
