once you have the homebrew channel you no longer need the twilight hack - all you need to do is copy the apps you want to use into the apps directory on the sd card. you can get apps from wiibrew.org

to install infused VC games you need to 1. get a copy 2. put them in the wad directory on the sd card and run wad installer.

i haven't infused my own VC games, i just get them from sources.

Everyone Quake 1 has been released for the Homebrew Channel and uses the Wii Control and Nunchuk so another FPS for the Wii I've only played the demo as you can't download the full version of the game unless you own it.

The controls are a bit jumpy but still play alright.

skhsarki.extra.hu/

Also contains Shareware Levels.

Note* This is only a demo of quake, which is allowed to be downloaded off the net, and it contains shareware levels and not the full game of quake.

it is not a hardware change, plus the wii has a 12 month warranty - that is long gone

No, Wii's, like all Nintendo products, are supposed to have a LIFETIME warranty, but the conditions of this warranty are stricter then other systems. Manually modifying the firmware will void this, I would think.

I've tried the Homebrew Channel and found absolutely nothing was worth playing, and whatever was worth using didn't work. Most emulators required the stupid SD Gecko and didn't support the Front SD. Are you sure VBA supports it now?

they do only have a 12 month warranty wiisystem.nintendo.com.au/

anyway - yes i am sure VBA supports SD cards - I played Mario Kart Super Circuit yesterday and I don't have a gecko. There are new releases of homebrew software all the time. VBA was released yesterday.

Quake, which I mentioned a page or so back was released yesterday - I played it as well. - if you have the full version like I do you just replace the PAK.

I think it would be a great idea if someone could write a guide to homebrew channel installation etc...unless there is already one somewhere....

It would save some people a lot of time since they won't have to answer stupid questions that people tend to come up with...then again people sitll dunno how to use the search button

if people started visiting the links that these guys are using and started to read the websites, you will understand and know how to do it yourself.

I installed homebrew and managed to install the stuff on the SD card and have had no issues, infact some of the sites these guys are using have helped alot.

Kudos to the people that are helping the newies to homebrew, but come people, if you read, you will learn, its not that hard.

I agree

All you need is a little patience.... it is usually the people who lack that, that end up bricking their wiis or stuffing something up..

im not saying to not ask..... IF you need help, but some people are trying things once and giving up or not trying to help themselves. Reading info on wiibrew, etc.

MrMorden is being flogged by the same stuff from different people.

There is more then enough info on the net for this. i didnt without help from MrMorden..... and i have never attempted anything like this before.... and i have managed to load up extra applications and stuff onto the homebrew SD

I just downloaded the Nintendo Channel which was released in Australia today, but it has a feature that sends to Nintendo what channels you use so it can suggest other things you may like. I like this feature and want to use it, but what if it sends the fact I'm using the Homebrew Channel to them? Would they care, and would they do anything about it?

i would uninstall the Homebrew Channel, same as removing other channels, in Wii System settings, before turning something like that on.

Quick question,

Regarding the new Nintendo Channel, my Wii told me I need to update. Is this update siutable for use with the Homebrew Channel? Ie. Will it brick me?

Just being cautious =)

no i don't think so - it says in the message about the nintendo channel that if you have done an update since march then you don't need to update it again. my assumption is if you can run Mario Kart then the nintendo channel will run without an update. I don't think nintendo have released an update to block the zelda exploit (trucha). if there was an update then the net would be covered with this information.

the zelda hack is the bit that makes it crash so that is working - it sounds like the .elf file you are trying to boot from the sd card is corrupt.

I installed the Homebrew Channel again today, together with VBA latest version. It does read front SD, however, it ran extremely choppy and the screen was red instead of the proper colors, due to hardcoded 480i on the EDTV cable. I tried the frameskip version like tehskeen.com suggested, and it fixed the red problem, but ran even choppier and slower then before.

How is it other people report playing it with no problems when all Wiis are built the same? Could it be I'm using a PAL Wii, and everyone else is NTSC?
