Wii News \ Sony CEO Believes That The Nintendo Wii Does Not Affect Them At All

It seems that the Nintendo Wii has no effect at all on the Playstation 3 according to Howard Stringer Sony CEO who said “…the Wii is not succeeding at our expense – it is not hurting us. We decided years ago to build a game console that offers much greater functionality. The PlayStation 3 has an enormous processor; it is gradually emerging as the central server in our users’ homes. The Wii is a well-made device that has found a new target group. For a while, we held the same target group with the SingStar karaoke game. But perhaps we neglected to pursue that avenue. Playstation games are rather designed for those who play a lot.”

So Sony is losing the console war for a completely different reason I take it Mr. Stringer?

don't think so, but great if it did. It would give a tremendous boost to ps3 sales if it did though.

well I have a PS3 and a wii. And yes the PS3 has some amazing graphical games that I play a fair bit i.e. MGS4 and Grand Theft Auto 4. But i must say that the wii is still my favourite. I think the wii has the best interface, better online Mario Kart, SSBB, Dr Mario and way better channels. On the other hand the PS3 is superior for media serving. If the wii had a better media server interface that did not rely on using orb or something like that then it would be ever better.

I also would like to see the wii provide downloaded wii demo games on the nintendo channel, much like the PS3 does on PSN.

Anyway Go Nintendo you are still number 1.

It's not that the PS3 is for people that play more, it's just that X-Box and PS3 players are more interested in shooting and racing games, while Wii players are interested in Mario, Zelda, and just about everything that isn't an M-rated bloodbath-- I mean shooter.
