Budget Range Announced for Japan

Nintendo of Japan has announced the "Everyone’s Recommendation Selection", a range of budget priced classic games for the Nintendo Wii.

Microsoft and Sony have had tremendous success with their Platinum and Classic ranges of older games for a lower RRP. Last generation Nintendo jumped on the bandwagon with their Player's Choice range, but never really felt committed to it. This time around they've decided to change it up a little.

Instead of being based on strong sales ’Everyone’s Recommendation Selection’ will be made up of games the scored highly on Japan's Everyone's Nintendo Channel. Strangely, it also seems to only be third party titles, from the preliminary list.

1. 428 (Sega)
2. Muramasa Demon Blade (Marvelous)
3. Arc Rise Fantasia (Marvelous)
4. Family Ski World Ski & Snowboard (Namco Bandai)
5. One Piece Unlimited Cruise Episode 1 (Namco Bandai)
6. Tales of Symphonia: Ratatoskr no Kishi (Namco Bandai)
7. Dragon Ball Z Sparking! Meteor (Namco Bandai)

At this stage there has been no word on a release in other regions.

So they are finally going to support third parties more then? That's actually pretty cool, and I really like the cover of the games! But the whole budget thing as be confused, they are just re-releasing the top third party games at a lower than usual price?

Though they do look good, hopefully they do the same as with the NPC, make the covers flippable. I wouldn't want some of my games with this cover and the rest with their original.

Well, talking last generation only I think Sony labeled PS2 titles as Platinum before Ninty did Player's Choice. So I'm still right
