Ever since the release of the Nintendo Wii, people from all over the world have been enjoying the various titles that the Virtual Console (VC), a function of the Wii which allows people to play retro games from most consoles of the old days. The Australian VC's library has an abundance of classic games from NES, SNES, N64 and Sega Genesis for the new generation to enjoy, but in Australia we have yet to be able to experience NEC's Turbografx's games. This is mainly because the console was never actually released in Australia, and therefore the games had not been rated, so cannot be sold in any form in our country. Announced on the 8th of June 2007, Nintendo proclaimed that these retro classics would at long last make their way to our shores! Notable introductions include Bonk's Adventure and the hugely popular Bomberman '93. With this inclusion, the Australian Virtual Console can finally catch up to the American Virtual Console, which recently celebrated over 100 VC titles available for download. Further consoles will soon be added to VC's around the world, including MSX and Neo Geo which will further expand the library. Virtual Console games can be purchased via the Wii Shop Channel using either a Wii Points card or a credit card. NES games cost 500 points, SNES games cost 800 points, N64 games cost 1000 points, Sega Genesis games cost 800 and the newly introduced Turbografx games will cost 600 points.
