Resident Evil 5 Wii Still Possible, Not Likely

Capcom refuse to say 'no' regarding Resident Evil 5 ever coming to the Wii. Last year Capcom said the Wii couldn't even handle RE5's title screen. Now, however, they appear to have changed their tune, and believe that the whole game could be possible using the Resident Evil 4 game engine.

"Hypothetically speaking, the Resident Evil 4 engine would work perfectly for replicating the gameplay but we would never be able to recreate the graphical quality," Masachika Kawata told magazine games™ (via Kombo). "A gun shooting game like Darkside Chronicles makes much more sense for Wii so, in short, Resident Evil 5 Wii Edition isn't likely to happen."

"Having said that, Cavia has surprised us with the quality of graphics in Darkside Chronicles, so it may actually be possible after all."

Wii owners have been waiting for a new Resident Evil adventure on Wii that isn't a port or another on-rails shooter for a long time now. Maybe Capcom are better off exploring the opportunity of creating one from the ground up?

Just a quick fix...

'Wii owners have been waiting for a new...'

The bolded word needs to be added in.. Last paragraph, first sentence.

Other than being picky like that, I'd like to say I've never tried a RE game but, if one is coming to Wii, I'd like it to be one that has been made to suit the Wii (not just taking RE 5 from another console, slapping it into the RE 5 engine and replacing graphics with lower-quality ones), so I think building a game for Wii from ground-up is a very wise idea.

lol yeah I heard something similar to this already. But I'm pretty sure we can all give up on RE5 coming to Wii. Maybe RE6? With Leon and Ada in it again...?? Who knows...

The next RE game for Wii will (most likely) be Resident Evil Archives: Resident Evil Zero

And then Probably and Archives version of RE:2 (and I pray to the RE Gods that they give it a HUGE overhaul as the GCN version was the same as the N64/PS versions)

Depending on the sales of the Archives and Chronicles series, Capcom will either then port RE:5 or their new RE game (which is at this stage a PSP exclusive)

Unfortunately, you've been misinformed! It's a great game! It just comes down to whether or not you mind the outdated controls. It's a prequel to the original RE and looks and plays exactly like the GCN version of RE (the Wii's 'Archives' version) just with new characters and locales.

I'm annoyed with CAPCOM and RE5. If they really think they can put it on, then they should just do it. Or even try to put it on. I'm over all these statements coming from them 'it might work, it might not', yada yada yada.

exactly, so to capcom: stop procrastinating and get it done already!
i hope they port it cause it is an awesome game but i dont really care if the graphics suck or not.
