UPDATE!: EA Confirm Dead Space will NOT be using MotionPlus

Nintendo has been relatively quiet about Wii MotionPlus of late, however EA have confirmed that they will be using the upcoming peripheral in some of their big name titles. The developer confirmed that Dead Space: Extraction will feature MotionPlus capabilities as will Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 and EA Sports Grand Slam Tennis.

EA's John Pleasants revealed officially that Extraction would be "taking advantage of the MotionPlus controller." John Riccitiello hinted that that would be the case when he originally announced the title.

Considering it is an on-rails shooter Extraction seems like an interesting choice for Wii MotionPlus. It suggests that the title will make more use of motion sensing rather than just point and shooting that is expected from this type of game.

Interesting. Strategic dismemberment played a large part in Dead Space meaning that you had to use a mix of vertical and horizontal axis shooting to dismember your enemies.

The Wii mote IR is perfectly suited to this already, I'm unsure how MotionPlus will enhance the experience but I'm intrigued nonetheless.

Or a possible reduction in IR lag?

If the motion plus attachment calculates the IR triangulation faster it may result in a faster and more responsive and more accurate on screen cursor.

Perhaps... I'll do some more research.
