An insight into MyMedia competitions
Many members have asked on the forums, or myself directly, "when is the next competition" or "how come there are no competitions on at the moment?" These questions sort of insinuate that the competitions are more often than not sponsored by us, out of our own pockets and passed on to you guys. While that is occasionally the case (as with the Street Fighter IV competition), most of the time publishers support us with some games to give away to members through a competition.
Occasionally, we may see fit to support a big game that we haven't received sponsorship with, and we'll fork out some cash to buy a few copies of the game ourselves, but we can't do that for every single big release. There might be a long period where there are no competitions, but that's because no one has offered or agreed to running a competition.
The F.E.A.R. 2 competition for example was supported by Warner Bros., the publisher of the game. They allow us to offer a certain number of games to members. With House of the Dead: Overkill, SEGA provided us with some awesome prizes, as can be seen below.
So, we aim to run as many competitions as possible and we know how fun and exciting they are. Sometimes we will provide the games ourselves, but most of the time it is the publisher who is allowing us to give some games away.
If there is a long period of no competitions, don't worry - we haven't forgotten! They're coming and we're just waiting for the right one.
Anyway, to get some of our latest winners excited, check out some of the prizes that are coming your way soon:
