Sensor Bar

• Recommended distance for using the remote from the sensor bar: 3 to 8 feet.
• The two infrared sources it emits match the power of two flames from a lighter.
• The long thin wire at the back of the bar is only for power, it doesn't transmit any data back to the console.
• Two lighted candles spaced about a foot apart on the table offer nearly the same accuracy and range as the sensor bar itself.
• Sunlight and various light sources can affect the Pointer operation of the remote.
• The Wii comes with a small plastic that acts as the sensor bar's stand - did you throw out yours?
• Placing the sensor bar upside down does not reverse your Wii movements.

Virtual Console

• Some virtual console games only work with the Classic Controller.
• You can save Virtual Console games to SD card.
• Each Virtual Console game you download also includes the emulator program to make it run on the Wii. So if you have 15 VC games, you also have 15 of the same emulator.
• All VC games are locked to the console they are downloaded on. So even if you transfer them to an SD card, you won't be able to play them on your mate's Wii.
• If for any reason your VC games are deleted or lost, they can be downloaded again free of charge. However, if your console malfunctions and VC games are lost, Nintendo will offer support for those in extenuating circumstances.
• The Wii Remote can be used as a NES controller if turned on its side.
• Each VC game downloaded comes with a digital instruction manual.
• Wii consoles are locked to regions for downloading VC games. For example, an Australian Wii will only be able to download VC games from the Australian servers.
• When downloading a Virtual Console game from the Wii shop, Mario runs across the screen. If you get a Fire Mario you can press the A button to shoot fireballs.
• The number of coins Mario gets when downloading VC games is the same as the number of blocks of memory it takes up.

Wii-mote

• The chip that detects the 3-D movements of the Wiimote is called the Accelerometer, and costs approximately US$2.50 to make.
• Adjusting the speaker and rumble settings affects ALL remotes currently connected to the Wii. Hopefully everyone likes the settings.
• While the Wii is powered off, press any button on the remote. The number of LED that lights up will indicate how much battery charge is left.
• Some games which operates using only accelerometer-based pitch and tilt data, could be played without the Wii sensor bar (eg. Excite Truck, Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam).
• The Wii-mote has an audio-translator chip which is designed to convert analog data (such as human speech) to digital data. This feature is currently unused.
• If you hold the SYNC button down on the Wii for 15 seconds, it will clear all synced Wii Remotes from the console.

Wii Console

• You can use the Wii's USB port to charge any device that can be recharged via USB.
• Uses a 24-hour format clock (eg. 1pm is displayed as 13:00).
• The Wii Console is bundled with Wii Sports, except in Japan where it is sold separately.
• Calendar displays dates up to December 2035.
• Parental Controls do not affect access to Gamecube games.
• Initially the Wii costs approx US$158 to manufacture. Of course this becomes lower as cheaper materials become available over time.
• The Wii can communicate with the DS via wireless connection (Pokemon Battle Revolution is the 1st game to utilise this feature).
• The covers for the Gamecube controllers sockets and memory card slots are removable.
• The Wii dims your screen (burn-in reduction) as soon as the Wii remote shuts down.
• If you eject a gamecube disc in the middle of the game, a message will tell you to close the cover of the gamecube!

Channels/Message Board

• Maximum Miis in the Mii Plaza: 100
• Maximum Friends in Contact List: 100
• Maximum Miis in a Parade: 10,000
• Maximum photos in the Photo Channel: 1000
• Maximum JPG file resolution: 8192 x 8192
• Maximum Quicktime file resolution: 848 x 480
• Maximum Miis you can send a day: 20 (you can get around this by changing the date on your Wii).
• Maximum Messages on 1 page: 10
• Maximum Wii Points that can be stored at any given time: 10,000
• In the Photo and News channels, click on the cat (if you can) that runs across the screen to display some tips.
• Hold down button 1 to get a 194 piece puzzle in the Photo channel.
• By Law, Nintendo may monitor information that you send or receive via the Wii messaging feature.
• The blue light around the DVD slot indicates a new message is waiting to be read. If you don't read or open the message, the light stays on. The remote also chirps.
• Placing MP3s with your photos on the SD card will allow you to change the background music during the slide show.
• In the Wii Shop Channel sometimes there is a different smiley face on the Added new games. If you click that it takes you to the ''Warp Zone'' which tells you a Nintendo Fact on a newly added game!
• The weather channel will affect your in-game weather on Wii games. For example, when you play Madden, the weather in the game will be the same as what is forecasted in your region.
• Switch to the Globe View in the Weather Forecast Channel. See the stars? They're real star constellations, with proper positions, brightness, and colour.
• When you click on the cat in the News Channel, the loading image turns into cats instead of leaflets. Press and hold (A) and strike your pointer across the cats to hear musical notes.

Wii Sports

Bowling

• You can throw your ball into the ajoining lanes. If it lands in the gutter on the other side, the crowd will laugh.
• When you press up on the Directional Pad, it will zoom in on the lane. The sound it makes while zooming is the exact same sound from Super Mario 64, whenever you move the camera.
• If you release on the back swing and throw the ball backwards, it scares and upsets all the Mii’s behind you.
• You can change the colour of your ball by pressing any direction on the control pad as the screen fades to begin bowling. UP=blue, RIGHT=Gold, DOWN=Green, LEFT=Red.
• You will receive a specially designed ball once you reach Pro level (1000 skill points).
• To get an automatic 91 pin strike in the last round of Power Bowling, throw the ball on the right or left rail (depending on if you are right or left handed) and make it travel along the top. If it reaches the end without falling off, you will hear a "click" and an explosion. Then all the pins will fall down from the shockwave. NOTE: This trick only works on the last round.
• The bowling ball seems to go much straighter if you release it high in the air, or if you throw it slowly.



Tennis

• To play on the blue practice court, press and hold (2) at the 'Safety Warning' screen.
• To perform a Super Rocket Serve, hit the ball at it’s peak.
• You can play yourself in a match by selecting your own Mii to be your opponent.
• A larger crowd will watch you play once you reach Pro level.



Boxing

• After beating Matt (the Grand Champion), you'll unlock the silver boxing gloves. To use them, hold (1) when the screen becomes black before a boxing match.



Golf

• To disable the power meter, map, and the wind speed indicator, press and hold (2), then make a selection at the "Select a Course" screen.
• To make a better putt: Press (1) on the controller to see the break of the green and use this to line up your putt. You can also press (2) to get a lower, closer view of the green.
• The line on the map shows how far you could possibly hit the ball. The three dots correspond to the three dots on your power meter.



Baseball

• To pitch sidearm: While pitching, press (2) before throwing. To return to normal pitching press (1).
• Pitching styles: Press (A) for a Screwball, (B) for a Curveball, (A)+(B) for a Splitter. Splitters are the hardest to hit.
• If you're winning by 4 or 5 points, the pitcher on the other team will start sweating.
