When in gods do I do that? We have an obligation to publish news. I never say in a news article "this game will be great" and if I do, it's personal opinion. We receive a press release and we publish the article for you guys. If we don't think it is news worthy, it doesn't get published. And if a game sucks, we'll say so in a review.

Man, you guys obviously don't get a load of all the hate mail that an author gets from fanboys when a Best Of list is posted. They get death threats, for the love of God. That's the way of the internet.

The email that Gaetano sent wasn't angry, yes, but there are many more.

Did you even read the article? He's clearly not crying over what HE thought should have been in the list, but what SHOULD have been, without question. He also pointed out flaws in some of the listings, such as COD 4 being listed as "PC, 360 and DS" when clearly the DS version is not the same game, etc...

IGN, The Mysites are two great resources for reviews and gaming info and it would be a cold day in hell before I resorted to a top 10 of 2007 posted in some try hard technology pull out in a tabloid newspaper for my gaming preferences.

You can't rely on "Best of" lists all that much. I remember reading (in the herald sun ironically enough) than in an Australian soccer magazine, Mark Viduka was left out of the top 100 Australian soccer players of all time. After a cascade of irrate mail, the magazine redid the list.

The email by the way was very well written and I agree on a lot of your points. DiRT really should not have been in that list. Skate probably would be a top 10 game in any other year but to put it ahead of titles like Metroid, GH3 and Mass Effect (Haven't played it, but I've heard only good things about it) is suspect.

And yes the Herald Sun haven't a clue when it comes to video games.
