Also sorry if this has already been asked, I searched but couldn't find anything.

It's all good. Welcome to the site! Follow jac33au's advice. Wiikey's are the best modchip available at the moment. Plus don't expect any homebrew apps for Wii at the moment as well.

From a support base you will find majority of people are using a wiikey so you have a good chance that if something happens, its happened to someone else at some point.
