I would like to know why heaps of threads are getting locked and admins are banning people when they didnt do anything wrong.
Its like 4yr old children are running this site.

1. I'd like to know why.
2. It promotes the policy by which you as an admin are adhering to, and so users will understand this policy and not do it again (hopefully).

I appreciate the fact that threads get locked sometimes for quite obvious reasons such as a flame war or off topic etc. But I've noticed some threads just fall off the map and there's no explanation why.

I'm in agreeance with El Raro here. If there is already an existing thread, there is no need to start a new one. Do we really need 400 threads telling us how much we liked Zelda? Or 50 threads asking how old everyone is. (yes I'm exaggerating for theatrical sake). There are so many repeated threads on here that it's getting harder to find the proper thread in the first place. It's not as bad as it was though.

As far as locking threads go, I'd rather a locked thread be removed altogether to make way for legitimate threads. If it's locked, i don't need to read it. It's locked for a reason. Just piss it off and forget about it.

We always do explain why we have locked threads, and we warn a thread's author by Private Message whenever they start a thread that we find so lacking in interactivity or so inflammatory that we delete it. Even then, people kick up a stir because they think that administering the site — something we do to keep this place relevant, useful and tolerably spam-free — is heavy-handed and an infringment of their right to free speech.

But let me tell you all something: there is no such thing as free speech. As in real life, you pay for everything you say; especially the stuff that breaks the rules. A forum is a place for many people to get together and discuss a certain topic. They can socialise, too, but that is not the focus of this forum. If we allow people to spam, then everyone will spam and MyWii will lose value as an online resource and a meeting place.

As for some threads being deleted or locked, and others being untouched, understand that MyWii is not MSN Messenger. We generally keep social posts if they solicit feedback from others and are open-ended questions. Bonus points for a question that is related to Wii. "Who likes dim-sims," for example, is a closed question, is of little relevance to anyone, and usually generates spam. "Did you get the girl?" is another thing that should be on Messenger and not on a forum. Complaints about the administration of this site should always be directed to an Admin by Private Message.

Inflammatory? Simple legal matters. If speech were entirely free and unpoliced there would be no such thing as libel and defamation laws, and slander would be unactionable.
